What did you think of Trump's speech?

Posted on 07/21/2016 9:17:54 PM PDT by MNDude

Of course we all loved it, but how do you think it'll effect voters?

Independents, anti-Trump Republicans, evangelicals, other needed voting blocks?

His speech surely sent all the mentally deformed Snowflakes into their safe space to cower from reality.

Interesting, I thought it was one of the best speeches I have heard...and I heard a lot of Reagan speeches.

Ambitious. Thinks big as he should. He’s going to get a lot done.

I noticed that too, but then it occurred to me that he said “God bless you” speaking to the collective audience.

I thought it was a way of saying that the people listening are America.

Many, many politicians who have disappointed us in the past have ended a string of empty promises with “God bless America”.

Perhaps it was an unintended error of omission, but perhaps it was just another way to differentiate himself from what has gone on before.

Frankly, as long as he builds the wall and makes our allies pony up and are enemies fear us, I can live with the omission.

Meaning what, exactly?

It seems that there is some magical number of times that people like Mark Levin require someone to say the word constitution before they are satisfied.

Trump mentioned the constitution, the respect for law and order MULTIPLE times. Where does are our law and order stem from? Uhm...spoiler alert...the founding documents.

I get sick of people who have these purity tests for people to pass.

While the conservative purists are getting their rulers out and measuring the times Trump and others meet the magic number of words, the democrats are out there kicking our asses and ruining our country.

Well, we can’t fight an actual war. There isn’t a real spatial divide. It’s a political, paradigm divide. They want to be grouped accords to aggrieved race, they want to punish “the man,” they want programs and free stuff, and they want to anything they want and do not want anyone to do wha they wouldn’t do. They are the easiest led because they fall for anything.

That pause after mentioning protecting LGBTQWERTY to take in the cheers that got - I think that shocked him, and likely more than a few people who read the speech advised removing it (though not his kids, I’m sure.)

Ivanka’s speech, I think, was incredible. Trump’s speech was pretty much what I expected. A summation of his campaign. Will it move the NeverTrumpers? Doubtful, there was little there to excite them, and likely quite a bit to give them the ‘I TOLD YOU SO’ crow that they crave.

It’s pretty amazing that he’s got three proxies he can send just about anywhere who can deliver a good speech and excite the crowds. He raised his children very well.

Do I think that this speech will reach undecideds? Probably, I guarantee far better than Hillary’s droning speech where she tries really hard not to say that it will be Bill Clinton’s unconstitutional third term. I think, honestly, he just set up the big tent and opened the doors, and it will take more effort to get people to cast their vote as admission.

But using that speech as a basis, I could easily see him pulling some purple states into the battle column, and make the whole country a much much paler shade of blue.

If I could stomach it, I’d watch the DNC so they can call everyone racists. It is going to be a PC fest.

One of the criticisms has been Trump hasn’t been specific enough. Well, that all changed tonight. The detail in this speech was everywhere. Total HOMERUN!

I think Trump has now won over enough Indies and Democrats to be able to win this. Tonight’s speech really helped with that.

If he loses in November, my guess is it will be because our oh so pure NeverTrumpers stayed home and allowed Queen Hillary to assume her throne.

Oh - so did I. I was throwing my hand up in the air every few minutes like I was at a revival meeting. Couldn’t seem to help myself, and didn’t want to after the first few times it happened. :)

So?? Is that a major consideration?

Obama always says it...but he doesn’t mean it...

Trump doesn’t need to say it every speech to tell me he wants what is good for America.

It was the most inspiring political speech of my lifetime. I don’t see how any real American could fail to be moved by it. I expect Trump to see a huge boost in his poll numbers after this. He’s the new Reagan.

Finally, someone on the thread after my own heart. Yes it was as good or better than Reagan acceptance speech—and I saw Reagan in person!

It is amazing how this 70 year old can display so much energy. Chronologically he is 70, but he has the energy level of a 50 year old.

I like how he went after the enemedia itself for not telling the American people the truth. They will respond by not telling the American people the truth.

He talked about the terrible levels of corruption in government and pointed out how deep Hillary is in that corruption. Claims he is the Law and Order President and I really hope his DOJ goes after lots of government corruption, no matter if it falls on either side of the political parties.

Stopping illegal immigration and being very careful with the muslim refugees coming in to this country.

Too much to list but overall a great speech. I think this will resonate with many Patriotic Americans who want their country back.
