Geraldine Sam, former Mayor of La Marque, TX, told CNN she came to the convention as a Cruz delegate but is leaving as a Trump supporter after Sen. Ted Cruz's address at the RNC Wednesday night. Sam was interviewed by CNN following a contentious meeting between the Texas delegation and Cruz where the former candidate for president doubled down the rhetoric expressed in his speech.

Did you notice that when Trump mentioned his mother last night the last attribute he mentioned was her uncanny ability to read people?

That's what I've said from the very beginning, it was astounding how many were either conveniently blind to it or rationalized it away by saying something like "Obama did it, so we can too."
Both were equally disturbing for the implications, though for very different reasons.
As a former Cruz fan (switched to Trump in January), I totally agree.

“If you cannot be a person, a word of your bond, then guess what, if I can’t trust you to say and do what you’re going to say, then how are you going to expect me to trust you to say any other things?” Sam asked.

“If you lied to me, then that’s telling me you lied to me,” Sam said of Cruz. “You lied to me. You lied and said you were going to support the party nominee and you won’t. Then you lied to me. And I’m very upset at this time. When you walked on, I turned my back. Why? Because you lied to me. And don’t take my vote for granted because you lied to me.”
“I came to this convention as a Cruz delegate and I’m leaving supporting Donald Trump as the party nominee,” she concluded.

Remember her name. TEXAS needs to remove Ted Fredo Cruz from the conservative movement, starting with this fraud’s reelection campaign.
Going into the convention, thegreenpapers.com showed Trump with 1,441 hard delegates and Cruz with 551 hard delegates.
Apparently, some of Cruz's hard delegates voted their consciences and that was NOT for Cruz.
Part of the discrepancy may have been with the Alaska delegation who screwed up on their paperwork.
What could have been a good launching pad for the future politically, has turned into a possible career ending hissy fit. I don’t get it.

I was just about to post almost the same thing that you said and reference about Trump’s statement last night about his mother, I believe he said Mary was her name - and you had already posted what I was thinking!
This ability is likely a talent and gift that would tend to be an inherited attribute, almost like a facet of IQ - in the sense that research is concluding that there are many types of intelligence. Some is learned, yet highly honed intuition is also a natural gift from God. Thomas Aquinas said that intuition is actually the highest level of intelligence.
Either way, Trump has this ability!
TCruz also exempted himself from contributions to his Baptist church in Houston. Said he had other financial commitments
The VERY best thing about Trump’s nomination is that we were not subjected to a Clinton vs Yeb! predetermined disaster.
