CANTON, Ohio — FOX6 News has learned the Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts Pro Football Hall of Fame Game set for Sunday evening, August 7th has been cancelled due to turf concerns.

Apparently there is an issue with the condition of the field at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium after Saturday night’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

FOX6’s Tim Van Vooren is there — and reported decision makers for the Packers and Colts were on the field, meeting about the field condition. David Baker, president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame was speaking with team leaders.

The whole culture needs to be changed!!

Which of course includes getting rid of Goodell.

STOP making players wear PINK for a MONTH!!!!

My wife had breast cancer TWICE and she HATES the pink ####.

Stop giving left wing speeches when theres about 8 faggots who watch your show in the country.

Stop suspending athletes four games for a deflated ball and another one ONE game for driving 150 MPH with a KID and POT in the car and then resisting arrest!!

Wow.

My very first reaction, too. NFL can and does bring in new sod for games all the time. It’s a smokescreen.

In 4 years of marching Drum Corps, I encountered all kinds of field conditions. The place we had everyday rehearsals, Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta, we’d leave with our feet covered in green. One time we had to condense our show to fit on a horse track. Groundspeople would leave sprinklers in the fields, and we would trip over them. Fresh paint, one of my guys had a nice white stripe across the seat of his trousers.

The “permanent” playing surface at the new Levis Stadium in Santa Clara, CA has been changed out four or five times in two seasons. They can’t find a turf that grows well there. I don’t think there are any “permanent” surfaces.

So I think, “at least there was still the game” and proceeded to watch a boring 0 - 0 tie game which was ended early due to the lightning storm that had moved in.

I guess a lightning storm is weather-appropriate for the Chargers given their helmet, lol. Dan Fouts must've not played much if it was 0-0.

They have 30 days to fix it . . . instead that cancelled. Was it an issue with the field? Really? or was it maybe low ticket sales. Now that seems much more reasonable. Like the NFL is worried about a player or two suffering a skull fracture . . . they gots helmets . . . they gots pads.

Oh well - if the field is bad enough to concern the teams, it’s for the best that they don’t play. Nothing like losing a starter for the season in some meaningless pre-season game - a 5th pre-season game, no less.

That was back in the days when the players weren’t multi-millionaires and didn’t mind getting dirty.

Surface was installed earlier this year and was previously used in the Superdome in NOLA.
