I need your help if you have an Android phone

Posted on 08/16/2016 5:25:25 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

I just downloaded about 10 updates on my Android. Every one downloaded fine, with the exception of the NRA-ILA app. I tried several times but only got an error message. And when I clicked on the error message, it gave me a message about "sorry about not being able to download Pokémon Go"

Just seems fishy.

My biggest beef with my S4 is that I lose my internet connection all the time (when I’m on here, but I repeat myself) and the pages won’t load. I have to turn airplane mode on then off again. Probably do that 10-15 times a day. Very annoying. I figure it’s a bit of planned obsolescence meant to prod me into buying a newer version, but I don’t have a need for anything beyond what this phone offers, and planned obsolescence pisses me off.

Starting with S6, Galaxies are all sealed-in batteries (and I think the corresponding Notes).

Older models and offbeat brands.

They can trace it without it too.

There is enough battery power for a weak GPS signal. Invest in a faraday bag.

If you are using it for wilderness, GPS and the like check out the “Earl” trekking pda. Other than that, just get a battery operated GPS for the car.

The problem is that android enables these dingbat companies to 1) put together cheapest reject hardware for $100 less and 2) create the ad-ridden crapware software that steal your info and load your phone with crap. For what? A hundred dollars of savings in the hardware and “choice” of software?

The airplane mode trick forces the phone to relink with a new cell tower. You have a bad cell tower near you with a broken router. It’s not your phone.

That is a big selling point for the G5. Easily swappable battery.

Exactly. I've seen unexpected and bad behavior from iPhones, androids, even a couple of blackberries. Hardware glitches and bad software builds happen to every brand.

Sounds like this phone may have gotten some malware. May want to consider backing up data and doing a factory reset, then reloading apps.

I discovered long ago that apps are high to medium threats to security on any brand of phone, droid or apple. Minimize the number of em and be aware (and control) what you “allow” or “share” with that specific app is best practice to consider.

Good luck on the fix for your woes....

I do have an IPad 2 and there has not been an IOS update that hasn’t installed and it works perfectly. The lap/desktops do age out, my wife has experience with that.
