Artist turns dead cat into beautiful thousand dollar handbag

Cats only live nine lives — but their desiccated corpses can live many, many more.

Seven years ago, New Zealand artist Claire Hobbs found a dead cat on a nearby road. After storing the cat in the freezer and searching through missing pets ads for three months, Hobbs decided she could put the cat's body to good use — and converted the dead kitty into a beautiful handbag. And now, she has now decided to sell it.

The headline says beautiful. I disagree.

Puts me in mind of the Nazis allegedly making items out of human tattooed skin.

Benjamin Franklin produced electricity by rubbing cats backwards!

Might need two of them?

No freezer burn? This has got to be a photoshop, or a recent “catch”.

In any case, I sure miss the Far Side.

Hahaha. Back when the Church of the Future tm.
was first formed the founder used to keep a dead
cat in his freezer. As we had an open bar in the
kitchen part of the ritual was to get ice from
the freezer.

The Church of the Future tm.
Wasting the present, expanding on the past,
into the Future.

Ask about our sacred wafers, fantastic colours!

I once saw a picture of a work of ‘art’ - a statue of a human nude modeled in leather. It was somehow really horrible to me.

The cat is worse.

I didn’t say it was like them, I said it reminded me. I had a customer who was an antique dealer. She had shrunken heads of pets. She said it was en vogue for a short while to have your pet’s head shrunken and mounted. Definitely odd,

As far as your rabbit’s foot is concerned, I am unsure what your physical deformities have to do with taxidermy or this topic? Do you have difficulty finding shoes for this foot? Has it cost you to be a social outcast? Do you avoid pool parties? Does it affect your reproductive habits? Do dogs chase you? Inquiring minds want to know.

The tanning process for the hide “sets” the hair.

The hair should not shed if properly done.

The lucky new owner of the kittybag can hang it up on restaurant tables by the claws on the two front paws.

I guess that would be the 102nd use for a dead cat?
