pro-stock cars dedicated to fallen US Marines owned by the guy that played Rafterman in the movie
Thanks for responding!!
I thought the behind-the-scenes clip was pretty interesting.
Always neat to see the thinking behind a film.
I’ll have to dig up the movies - both versions - and give a watch.
The book was disturbing.
Thanks!!!
I will check it out.
Al Santoli’s “To Bear Any Burden” and “Everything We Had” are great reads too.
“...Lots of crazy things happen in combat....”
My old man was WWII Airborne. Bulge, Rhineland, Germany. Twice wounded. He never spoke much of his experiences. He DID make a comment to me one time, when I asked him what the SS were.
He explained that they were political troops of the Nazi party. Said they were “tough bastards” and that he and his crew never took them prisoner, ever. That was it, no further elucidation.
Many years later, I understood what he meant by that.
That Always makes me smile.
Great movie!
Dispatches is entirely non-fiction and is about the experiences of Michael Herr as a war correspondent during Vietnam. Best Vietnam war book I think I have read.
