One of the worst - but I always hated “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” and “Watching Scotty Grow” even worse.
Hope you enjoy them!
I think we must be twins, as far as music goes anyway because I’m in agreement on “Take me to Church”.
I agree, the lyrics are offensive but the song itself is superb. I sometimes listen to it when I’m on my daily walk or cleaning house because it gets me going. I haven’t seen the video, so I can’t comment on that.
Yes, I like “Spirit in the Sky”. Fun melody and good lyrics.
Very pleasing melody, splendid harmonies, the musicianship is good, but the lyrics are not pleasant, to say the least.
“The Communist national anthem”
I didn’t realize this until I was a few year into adulthood. I’m sure a lot of people are the same way. It’s a touchy-feely song that elicits images of rainbows and unicorns, until you analyze the lyrics.
Lennon would have loved to have lived the life of a Leninite... as long as he was in the nobility/establishment and not the proletariat.
Pumped Up Kicks... one of the most deceptive songs of its day.
Catchy tune, dissembled lyrics.
Well, I can't agree or disagree with you on the lyrics of "Pumped up Kicks." I can only make out a word or phrase here or there.
The youtube line-up followed it with "Somebody That I Used to Know," which I love. The video, the melody, and the words which are actually understandable all meld into a superb composition.
That could very well be the case. For all I know, you are one of the over 500 people who have watched my playlists on youtube. I should really update those, although with the autoplay feature, playlists are somewhat obsolete these days.
Oh, I neglected to mention that it suffers from the overly common malaise of much modern pop music, the lyrics are very very very repetitive.
Robert’s got a quick hand.
He’ll look around the room,
he wont tell you his plan.
He’s got a rolled cigarette
hanging out his mouth.
He’s a cowboy kid.
Yeah! He found a six-shooter gun
in his dad’s closet, with the box of fun things.
I don’t even know what,
but he’s coming for you. Yeah, He’s coming for you!
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.
Daddy works a long day.
He be coming home late, and he’s coming home late.
And he’s bringing me a surprise.
‘cause dinner’s in the kitchen and it’s packed in ice
I’ve waited for a long time.
Yeah the sleight of my hand is now a quick-pull trigger.
I reason with my cigarette,
Then say, “Your hair’s on fire, you must have lost your wits, yeah?”
(Run, Run, Run, Run. Run, Run.
R-Run, Run, Run.
R-Run.
R-Run, Run, Run.
R-Run.
Run, Run.
Run, Run.
Run, Run, Run.)
