In a country where even the smallest purchases are routinely carried out with the national debit card, Dankort, and people increasingly use smartphone payment systems like the incredibly popular MobilePay, writing a check seems hopelessly outdated.

The nation’s banks agree and as of January 1st, it will no longer be possible to cash checks from other banks in Denmark. The only option that will remain is to cash a check written by the same bank that issued them, a move that essentially means the total end of they payment form. …

This is evil on a grand scale.

With all transactions going electronic, there is zero privacy.

The world is marching... no, that’s not it.

The world is running toward the Mark of the Beast.

A colleague’s son spent a semester of his senior year in college living in Denmark.

He was issued one of these Dankort debit cards. It had an expiration date timed to coincide with the expiration date of his student visa.

No visa, no money. But we’re all RAAAAAACISTS for wanting to enforce our borders.

Taking away control of money from the people. Cash will be next. Certainly prophesied to happen and will spread to other parts of the world. You control the purchasing ability of individuals, you control the people.

Yes, so that no man may buy or sell, et cetera.

Also towards murdering anyone who won’t worship the beast’s image.

“With all transactions going electronic, there is zero privacy.”

Like writing a check guarantees your privacy? Have you not noticed that banks have been keeping photos of your checks for years?

So then, if we want financial privacy, and keep away from government oversight and snooping, should we invest in bitcoin? If enough people want to go around these governmental financial plans, will bitcoin become a prominent alternate form of money?

To make it easier for the totalitarian state to decide how much money you “should” have and how much money of yours they “should” take from you.

I wanted to visit there some day but didn’t have any phone contacts. So now, since I can’t write to anymore Checks, I’ll have to give that one up.

Difficult to say, right? I mean Bitcoin is not accepted at grocery stores in my area. That could be a major hurdle.

Gosh, prices are going to go up again as wholesalers add in the cost of electronic payment rather than continue to receive checks they have to jump through hurdles to collect on.

Checks are mostly used by older consumers for payment of monthly bills and by businesses to pay for wholesale purchases.

Gosh, prices are going to go up again as wholesalers add in the cost of electronic payment rather than continue to receive checks they have to jump through hurdles to collect on.

Most checks are run as debits these days by most retailers. Those who don't have the tech, and don't want to deal with check fraud simply don't take them.

Walmart runs your check, but you get to keep it as your record. The system treats it like a debit card transaction.

Hell, when I worked for Autozone way back in the early 1990s, they had a check scanner that would red-flag checks where the account didn't have enough to cover the check amount. Run it through the machine, and if it's okay, accept the check for payment. Granted, it wasn't as quick as a debit card, and if they ran the account too low by the time the check actually cleared, it would be returned, but it cut out a lot of fraud up front.
