Get ready for a blockbuster sequel.

It’s Alabama vs. Clemson, The Rematch.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide will take on the No. 3 Tigers in a do-over of last season’s national championship game, a 45-40 thriller won by Alabama.

If the Jan. 9 matchup in Tampa comes anywhere close to that classic in the desert, it will more than make up for two semifinal duds on Saturday.

Alabama (14-0) wore down No. 4 Washington for a 24-7 victory in the Peach Bowl, while Clemson dominated No. 2 Ohio State 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl, handing Urban Meyer the first shutout of his coaching career.

The Tide opened as a touchdown favorite.

CBSSports.com’s Jon Solomn writes that while Clemson was inconsistent at times this season, the Tigers always looked like potentially the toughest matchup for Alabama. Clemson has the defensive line, the dual-threat quarterback, and a number of offensive weapons to threaten Alabama.

Still, this is an Alabama team that leads the nation in total defense, rushing defense and defensive touchdowns. This might be Coach Nick Saban’s best defense ever. It’s certainly the fastest and most athletic.

“They are who they are because they’re the best, they’re the standard,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. “We’re excited. If you’re ever going to be the best, you’ve to beat them. It’s going to be an unbelievable game. I’m glad we’ve got a shot. That’s all we can ask for.”

Alabama will be going for its fifth national championship in eight seasons, a run that already has stamped it

just believe a conference championship should mean something.

not when the champ loses by six TD’s to a team that is not playing in the championship...sorry...

Your first ambiguous post suggested the whole tiger team was homosexual. Yes. You provided proof of your name calling after someone called you down on it. One or two players doing this doesn’t make the whole team. These guys need to be questioned and punished. No excuses on this behavior. My understanding from another thread is this disgusting action comes from rugby. Still your Gamecock bias or hate shows. And I guess that is what bothered me.

At least two players caught doing it, and no condemnation by their head coach?

Just because I am a Gamecock fan doesn’t make me wrong. Are you looking at this through Tater colored glasses?

I had seen (and provided a link to) the second, but not the first. It appears that it isn’t an isolated activity on the team.

Enough to make me cheer for Bama.

42 was feeling him up while 91 held him down! Man, that’s just wrong.

While 10 pulls his legs open. Guess that's what passes for teamwork at Clemson. At least the co-eds ought to be safe.

Lol. Nah. I actually have a daughter at USC. I like both schools. It’s disappointing that Dabo hasn’t done anything about that we know of...they may not announce it.

Well, to follow up my post of yesterday:

“I don’t know if it was the jerk, the drunk, or someone else calling for Bama yesterday, but if the head coach has any sense at all, the same person won’t be calling for the championship.”

it looks like the Bama head coach does have some sense. It didn’t take him long to fire Kiffen after the game.

I’m beginning to think that OU was the team that got hosed. I think they could have given Bama or Clemson some problems.

OU should end up at least #3 at the end of the year, if not #2.

Everybody in the play-offs scored points except Ohio. Penn looked pretty good last night too.

That Darnold kid at USC will be a problem for a lot of people. I'm glad the Tide played USC (52-6) before he took over.
