My Toyota Highlander was made in Japan.
My wife’s Toyota Tacoma, was made in California.

Both are good cars.

My folks GM was made who knows where, broken the first day they owned it. My Ford almost killed me, electrical died in the worse possible place. That was years ago, will not throw my hard earned money away on garbage be it foreign or domestic.

Honda CRV is the only non-luxury suv toatally built in the usa.

I own an f150, f450, mustang, and have been a ford owner more than anything else my entire life. I will buy an suv at the end of january, because wife needs awd to get back and forth to work in our rural county.

My vette and silverado have been good to me. My 2004 Dodge ram rusted horribly and ate up front end suspension components like that was it’s job. It washed those front end parts down with about a quart of oil every few months. My 2000 Blazer was a good vehicle. It wasn’t without issues but I ultimately sold it in 2015 and I was sad to let it go.

We have an Outback, yes it’s assembled in Indiana, but there is a certain percentage of parts made in Japan, engine (2.5) being one of them.

I do not have a problem with that. I’d much rather see parts from Japan as opposed to Mexico.

The last two generations were built in Canada, just like my Dodge Challenger. The Mustang was always assembled here.

Love the retro Mustangs, at least up until the last 2 or 3 years. It’s about the only one of the retros that I like, the others being the VW Beetle (again, up until the last few years when they started “flattening” out), and the Dodge Challenger (like the original Challenger much better). Not too crazy about the retro Camaros (sorry RC one!) :) Love the 60s through 70s, even 80s.

There’s “parts built wherever” and “where the vehicle is finally assembled - from sub-assemblies”. I know of one specific vehicle OEM that had to place orders with over 2000 vendors once a vehicle launch was “a go”. Modern vehicles are massively complex, everything from the engine and transmissions to the infotainment systems. They’re quite amazing tbh.

While I wold love to see more mad in the US cars, i don’t really have a issue buying a car made in Canada. Both countries are similar in terms of culture, pay, etc. unlike the US and Mexico.

The Toyota Sequoia is made in the USA... It is only sold in North America, i heard

I had a 1974 Jeep with a 304 3 speed a long time ago. There was nothing complex about it. I broke a motor mount on my way down to college. I pulled into an Ace hardware store and bought a piece of chain and cable tensioner and torqued the engine down to the frame with that and a crescent wrench and I was back on my way to school in less than an hour.

Later that winter, I broke the clutch cable. I bought another cable tensioner and some bailing wire and used that to connect the clutch peddle to the transmission. I drove it like that for years. LOL.

I guess I like my modern vehicles but I sure do miss those simple vehicles.

Apparently, it is 80% made in USA. My Silverado is only 61% made in USA. My corvette is only 75% made in USA apparently. :(
