Once you get a taste of good wine — and I mean the really good stuff — and you learn how to savor it and appreciate it, it becomes quite addicting.
We live in a “wine country” type area and I have a hard time avoiding it, no matter how hard I try. The only thing I can do is try to imbibe as moderately as I can . . . stretch out the time in between bottles, have only ONE glass, etc.

How do you drink $30,000/month in wine? Not that hard to do, really. If he is a student of fine wines he can purchase them at auction. Just recently at WineBid, a wine bidding site on the net which is probably like the type of bidding a recluse would use, a bottle of 1994 Sine Qua Non Queen of Spades auctioned at $3560 while close to it a bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non The Writing On The Wall sold at $4800. Now, these are not wines to consume as much as own. They are an investment like antique cars. But this is how you can run up a $30K habit so easily. He just has to figure out how to budget like the rest of us. Im not sure he has the ability to do that as he is an over reactive, weak minded fool. red

When I saw the 200k he spent modifying his GF’s regular 68 Mustang, I knew he had a spending problem.

Lets see, decent wine is about $80 a bottle We obviously don't travel in the same circles. lol
I favor white wine, and I am able to get award winning Mosel Riesling for about $200 a case, for spatlese and auslese.
I'm familiar with numerous Texas wineries that produce excellent wines, ranging in price from $15 - $40 a bottle. I'll admit my palette is not refined enough to distinguish between those and a $150 bottle from Napa.

I understand his quandary, Charles. If I had all that money, I'd have umpteen mansions, too. If money were no object, I'd have residences in:
1. San Francisco
2. Spokane (basketball season...lol, go Zags!).
3. Fredericksburg, TX
4. Traben-Trarbach, Germany
5. Chania, Crete
Oh hell, that's not even a half dozen, let alone umpteen...lol. And I'd still get my wine from the places I get it now, as described in a previous post.

I'm hardly a wine connoisseur, but it's been my (limited) experience that's while there's an ENORMOUS difference between a $3.00 bottle of wine and a $30.00 bottle....
.....The difference between a $30 bottle and a $300 bottle is about 270 dollars.
My palette just isn't that refined.

What on earth can you do to a Mustang that costs $200k unless it involves gold and jewels? Or makes it fly?

What if he spent $30K/month on guns and ammo? :-)
Like the man says...."I blew 90% of my fortune on young beautiful women, poker games and expensive whiskey. The rest of it, I wasted."

How do you run expenses of $2 million per month?
There must have been a fairly substantial business built around “taking care of Mr. Depp.”
Might make a good movie...

Thanks for posting that link...very interesting.
I've had trockenbeerenauslese at a few wine tastings, when I was stationed in Germany. That was a long time ago, and the 1975 & 1976 vintages were among the best of the 20th century. I've seen articles where the most expensive of these wines are going for $7500 per 375 ml bottle. Yikes!
