15 Worst Star Trek Episodes Of All Time
Screen Rant ^ | May 23, 2017 | Matthew Byrd

At some point in life, you learn to take the good with the bad. It’s not that you necessarily become better at dealing with the bad things in life, but rather that you learn to appreciate that the bad is simply a companion to the good. If you grew up a Star Trek fan, you likely got a head start on this valuable life lesson. Regardless of which Star Trek series you became hopelessly addicted to, you eventually learned that you had a roughly equal chance of seeing something truly great or something truly awful on a weekly basis. Eventually, you come to accept that the bad episodes add a little flavor to the great ones.

Just because bad Star Trek episodes are a vital thread in the franchise’s rich tapestry, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t still some of the worst episodes to ever be broadcast on television. We’re not talking about episodes which stomp on the series’ continuity or ruin certain plot developments. These are the entries which Trek fans and non-Trek fans alike watch with their jaws agape. “How?” they say while struggling to reach some semblance of understanding. “How did this episode ever make it on-air?”

These are the 15 Worst Star Trek Episodes Of All Time.

I will say it did give me a chill when Old Glory came out all tattered and worn....but still flying.

Landru was good, so was every one where there was battles. Also the one where the colony was turned into sort of zombies by the spores.

Happy zombies tho.

OK. I stopped reading when I got to this passage: "The other thing that makes “The Omega Glory” significant is just how awful it is. Let’s skip past how boring the episode is and get right to the point where the episode takes a huge moral nosedive by subtly suggesting that the Yangs (America) are superior."

Moral nosedive? Explain, whomever you are.

I'd offer City on the Edge of Forever as a candidate for best episode.

Well, a few of them I don't agree with.

Omega glroy is one that doesn't belong on their list. The reasoning that the Yangs(America) is superior is bad just shows how biased and leftist the author is. No one is saying that Americans are superior to Chinese racially. But culturally and economically we were and our political system as its intended still is.

Savage curtain, well maybe they're a little harsh.

Spock's brain? I don't know. I do know that it aired a lot when I was younger so I have a bias against it but there's a logical reason why spock is still alive, Vulcans are built differently.

The episodes I would say that are bad are the one where Tasha Yar Dies. (she was bada$$ and should've stuck around longer) The episode about Barclay's hologram fantasies, the one where Kirk finds that nomad probe that wants to sterilize everyone and most of the episodes of Deep Space Nine.

Also, the animated series was never touched on.

That was one of my favorite episodes. I confess that even as a kid I thought the idea of the parallels being so precise were a bit hokey. Still, a very powerful reading of the declaration of independence by Kirk.

Ahh, Kodos.

The plays’ the thing!

I just saw my guilty pleasure TOS ep the other day — everyone’s an android. Hawt android tells Kirk to kiss her. he says “illogical” — she gives Kirk (android version) the biggest F U ever and phasers him the hell out of existence. She didn’t even say “what do you mean that was a copy?”

“Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra!”

I saw this episode like ten years ago and then when I started doing Bible studies it resonated with me. See, I wondered how many things are in the Bible that are taken literally that were actually metaphors? The meanings of those metaphors are lost to time so we’re taking them seriously.

Like when you call something ‘cool’ or ‘wicked’. It’s a metaphor but say in two thousand years people read about how things were cool and wicked in the 20th and 21st centuries and they might wonder how cold it was and how evil our culture was because they don’t know these metaphors.

The overpopulation episode was “The Mark of Gideon”. The half=black half-white episode was” Let This Be Your Last Battlefield “, co-starring the late, great Frank Gorshin.
