Love me some Kelly Clarkson. Not a fan of the top 40 genre but there’s something about her voice that I could listen to over and over again. And I don’t even mind when my kids tease me about it.

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
The White Cliffs of Dover (no I am not that old to have heard it when it was released; my grandparents were!).
Vera Lynn is still alive, I believe. In her 90s.

I don’t believe that anyone has mentioned Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Petula Clark, or Crystal Gayle. For great harmony, I’d nominate the Cleotha, Mavis, and Yvonne Staples from the Staple Singers.

I figured someone on this thread would mention Janis Joplin. But for the life of me, I cannot understand her appeal. To me, she was just a rough voice screaming into a microphone.

When the Mamas & the Papas played at Ole Miss a friend’s father was the physician on call for university events. She was ill w/ a cold or virus & he treated her. He told his daughter that she was very nice.

Maud was USMC vet - and WW II vet - Johnathan Winters. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.
