The model he is showing is the standard model and no it is not more accurate.

Also, the Ghost Ring site and the trigger sucks.

I put my SKS up against your Mini-14 any day. LOL

.
I don’t question guns; I question shooters.

Shooters blame the machinery for their own shortcomings.

Howdy y’all. I’m considering picking up a .223 dpms Oracle for fathers day. They’re going for $400
Comments/ opinions would be appreciated. Ty

I've owned, used and dealt with Mini-14s since my fiancée got a very early one in 1976 [and wanted me to modify surplus M16 magazines to fit it, not easily do-able] And I have a few reasonably informed opinions.

Extractors break and ejectors fail. The French evaluated the Ruger GB selective fire/bayonet lug version and considered adopting it to replace the MAS-49 rifles and MAT-49 submachineguns used by the armeds Gendarmerie Military Police, still have a few, but went with the French military FA-MAS G2 *clarion* bullpup rifle instead. They found the sling swivels insufficiently sturdy and went with a slot in the rear of the buttstock instead, much like the US M1 carbine.

I'm not real thrilled with the Ruger metallic sights, but like the Tech-Sights versions MUCH better. And be certain your magazines are reliable in YOUR rifle; with the several production versions and batches Ruger has produced over the years, not all interchange perfectly, including brand-new ones.

I've had 3 of the .223/5.56mm versions and one Mini-30 in the 7.62x39mm M43 AK47 cartridge chambering. If I was to have another one, it'd be in .300 Blackout.

That was the CRS (Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité). They've been packing them since at least the early '80s and my guess is that they still have the same guns. I tried asking them about their Mini 14s once but they aren't the least bit chatty.

A pal of mine, retired SFPD Inspector and former tank platoon commander, was in Paris during the first attack, a few hundred meters from his hotel. He got his fellow tourists away from the doors, and played doorman along with an unarmed hotel security guard until the CRS showed up, who figured they had too many doors and too much glass to deal with for the two of them, their partners being detailed to the Eiffel Tower and Pullman Hotel, and so my pal and the hotel guard were *deputized*, and outfitted from the trunk of the cops' car. With, among other playthings, a Mini-14 and a folding stock Remington 870 shotgun. And then it was not two understaffed cops, but a reasonably effective fire team that could cover each other and perform fire-and-movement if needed.

An interesting point from that evening: most of the cops were using the straight 20-round magazines rather than the longer curved 30-round versions, which resemble the magazine of an AK-47 a little too much. It doesn't pay to confuse your own snipers.

Thank you for the NRA link. “....The ATF recommends that if you want to gift someone a firearm, you should purchase a gift card at the store instead. This way, they’ll get the exact gun they want, there will be no legal issues stemming from your purchase, and it can still be a surprise. However, unwrapping a gift card is far less climatic than a real firearm....”

Of course the ATF recommends that. They want a record of who has what. I posted it is still not against federal law to give your kid a firearms, regardless of ATF recommendations. That is still the case. It is also legal in my state to buy firearms from private citizens with no FFL involvement. Buy your kid a gift card if you want to, but you don’t have to in most states.

To each their own, but I love my RRA. It’s a damn tack driver. I got a super deal on it as it was a “post ban” still in stock after it expired. I replaced the barrel with a custom job.

It’s got the best trigger on the market and the rifle drives tacks at 100 yards.

Not saying there is a thing at all wrong with their products.

Their company leadership colluded with leadership of Springfield Armory to create a carveout for themselves in upcoming state legislation in Illinois.

Won't be buying either company's products until both do something to make amends. Wanted to put it out there in case others care enough to not give them money anymore.

I disagree with the late Bob Owens when he asserted that SAI and RRA didn't sell out Illinois gun owners.

Saying he (Dennis Reese) wasn't aware of the actions of the trade organization (IMFA) simply isn't credible. If it's true then I still won't buy their stuff because not holding your representatives accountable is inexcusable.

RRA's explanation is fundamentally the same, "we didn't know until it was too late".

Lacking any tone because this is text, I'm not frothing or angry or trying to pressure anyone either way. These are the salient points in my opinion and I wanted to explain it more thoroughly.

I was unaware of that. Thanks. I’ll call them today and express my displeasure.
