K-12: Why Millenials Are Going Bald
American Thinker ^ | July 17, 2017 | Bruce Deitrick Price

Posted on 07/24/2017 5:01:27 PM PDT by BruceDeitrickPrice

Early in 2017, ABC breathlessly reported, “Hair loss and balding are something we associate with aging, not a younger population, yet more and more millennials say they're experiencing hair loss.”

Theories include diet and health problems. But Moneyish.com didn't hesitate to conclude: “Millennials are going bald from too much stress.”

We live in a rich, safe, successful country. Why is there so much stress? Why do so many young people feel they are under siege and about to be overrun?

Perhaps we should look at what public schools, in tandem with higher education and the media, tend to emphasize. Namely, pessimism and vulnerability. Our educational institutions seem to be fiendishly efficient stress factories, able at all levels to produce fearful people who will be crippled by any amount of pressure.

First of all, what is being accomplished in public schools? Anything to be proud of? There’s a lot of busywork and light-weight academic activity. I suspect few kids are deeply engaged and even fewer are bragging about how much they learned the past year. That leaves kids uninvolved, drifting, a perfect recipe for anxiety and stress.

Second, nothing noble and brave is mentioned if our Education Establishment can manage it. Has any millennial ever heard that John Paul Jones said, “I’ve not yet begun to fight.” This is a message that everyone needs throughout their lives. Have younger people heard that Nathan Hale said, “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” That is brave stuff, and prompts us all to a higher standard.

A Roman soldier named Horatius, twenty-five centuries ago, stood on a bridge to fight an advancing army. This story (Horatius at the Bridge) became central to Rome’s identity. Every Roman kid wanted to be Horatius.

Agreed. But back then, parents focused on their families and supported their kids emotionally and financially. Latch-key kids are having a hard time navigating meth alley at school. Even a kid in a very nice seaside community said she wished she had a big brother at school because it was a threatening violent place. And yet, that town looks lovely like Mainstreet USA. All the moral relativism - I think the kids feel like they are riding a runaway train - many have no adults in charge or interested in them.

(Horatius at the Bridge)

Up spake brave Horatius, the captain at the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than daring fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his gods?"

-- Macaulay, "Lays of Ancient Rome."

[from memory, so excuse any errors]

Hair follicles are nourished by blood capillaries in the skin as well as oxygen.

The tight bands on the ball caps restrict the flow of the blood to the scalp thus resulting in the death of the hair follicles resulting in baldness........

That's just my theory but it makes more sense than all the other crap I read.............LOL!

Baldness is also associated with pre-diabetes. Diabetes causes skin dryness and decreasing blood flow to the skin. And in America, diabetes has become prevalent.

“-——Latch-key kids are having a hard time navigating meth alley at school.”

The problem is the meth alleys, not the fact that there is no one home.

I was a latch-key kid throughout the 1940s. No meth alleys,or anything like that at school, therefore no problems.

Millennial are going bald because they are getting old. They might not act like they are old, but their hair doesn’t care.

At least 30 years ago, Puerto Rican boys were reported to be growing breasts—accredited back then to hormones given to cattle. Pictures accompanied the article.

It is a tin and copper deficiency. Our soils no longer have the nutrients they used to have because they are not being replaced.
