President Donald Trump’s decision on Wednesday morning to ban transgender individuals from serving in the military “in any capacity” has the potential to save taxpayers up to $8.4 million dollars per year, according to a RAND study. […]

This decision comes two weeks after the House of Representatives failed to pass the Hartzler Amendment, which would have prohibited the Pentagon from using taxpayer funds to pay for sex reassignment surgeries. 23 Republicans joined 190 Democrats to vote down Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s (R-Mo.) amendment.

The RAND Corporation, a public policy research organization, conducted a study last year to “assess the implications of allowing transgender personnel to serve openly.” The study found that there is an estimated 1,320 to 6,630 transgender individuals currently serving in the military.

The research center calculated transition-related health costs for transgender people to be as much as $8.4 million annually. The President’s decision will alleviate taxpayers of that cost, as well as of any disruptions or lost service caused by transgender surgeries. …

It’s not just the money. How do you handle transitioning during combat? Why should you force female military to shower with a transitioning person with male genitals?

From what I have been told by a friend in the military medical field, they are non-deployable, except to an area with a major medical facility, he was not sure about ships, because they require long term health and psych care.

It’s not just the money. Morale in our armed forces just went through the roof with the rejection of these mentally ill freaks

The 8.4 million dollars is not of great importance. What is important is how the man with a rifle in hand next to you will perform in combat. If they are transgendered by definition they have great psychological problems.

I want Bubba next to me in combat. I do not want a Brenda that used to be Bubba nor a Brenda that is now Bubba. It is all about killing the enemy. I want the person next to me without any psychological problems with the exception of an insane compelling hate and fury driven desire to kill the enemy.

If that Bubba is in your corner, you may live to see the next day. War is ugly and not the place for social experiments. An Army, Navy, and Air Force is designed to be a keen killing machine. Anything that degrades their ability to kill is not good!

Isn’t the attempted suicide rate very high in trans? If Bradley Manning is an example, Trump is on target.

I’m not against trans. I’m against creating functional problems in the military.

Looking at the makeup and location of the Rand corporation- I wouldn’t trust that 8.4 million dollar number at all. The wasted man hours on sensitivity training alone has to be a multiple of that.

Yes, it’s Fake Numbers to go along with Fake News.
Absolutely no way is it that low. Wasted hours, needless bureaucracy, times it by 10 at least.

The insanity of pumping male combat troops up with estrogen is as staggering as it is counterproductive.

Just another PC attack by the Left on the warrior culture of our military.

Does that mean that a person born with female parts but
thinks she is a man cannot join the military and get
an addadicktome at taxpayer expense and have that
operation cost count against the military budget?
So unfair. As a bald dude who thinks he has to have
a head full of hair to feel fulfilled I was hoping
to join the military so you dumb taxpayers could pay
for hair plugs. Hate that Trump!

Once the "free surgery" was established nearly every transgender person would join for the free medical.
This was a Pandora box that was closed.

It seems the “cost” of transgender persons in the military relates much much more to readiness than monetary impact.

First, these are people who believe they are someone that they are not - that, however serious, is a mental disorder.

Second, many if not most will be treated with hormone therapies, etc, etc. These are mind/mood altering treatments that effect a person’s decision making abilities.

I just don’t see why the military readiness should be compromised for political purposes or so-called political correctness. These are national security issues.

Exactly logistics. Bathrooms, sleeping quarters, sensitivity training, years of hormone therapy costs, and many operations.

So according to Rand they'll only cost $1200 each per year.

Total BS.

The hormones alone would cost more that that.

Cost of the surgery, follow ups, psych care, not doing ANYTHING for a year while "transitioning", probably won't be deployable, then there are the burden on the VA after they are out.

Paging Mr. Manning.
Paging Mr. Manning.
Would Mr. Manning please note the difference between 2,655 and 15,500?

It isn't the cost savings that even count...it is undoing this nonsense that is important.

I don’t personally care if it saves any money regarding transgender surgery and such, and it can be tackled in Obamacare/healthcare separately at some point.

I care about military effectiveness, saving lives, and winning engagements/battles/wars.

And that will save money.

Nothing is as expensive as defeat.
