The FDA Won’t Call This $80M Veggie Burger Safe — and That’s Delicious

The citys least-delicious hamburger coughed up a delicious irony this week. We learned that the Food and Drug Administration declined to say that the laboratory-produced key ingredient of the meatless Impossible Burger which is supposed to taste and smell and bleed like beef is safe for human consumption.
How rich is this? A product thats aimed at weaning us off supposedly guts- and artery-destroying, environment-ravaging meat in favor of a healthier alternative cant pass muster with the federal agency that looks after our health.
The FDA didnt ban the Impossible Burger. You can still buy them around town, at places like David Changs Momofuku Nishi, as well as Saxon + Parole and Bareburger.

Wow that looks disgusting!
I’ll take grass-fed beef over ANY soy product.

I don’t eat beef or pork - just a person preference and I don’t care if you eat it - and was at a restaurant that carried a veggie burger.
THEY DEEP FRIED IT.
So much for being healthy.

Vegetarianism is b.s. You know it is because they make vegiburgers, vegicheese, vegisausages, soymilk, and other fake animal foods. If people were meant to be vegetarians then they wouldn’t have to fake the food. Where’s the “broccoli” made from chicken? Doesn’t exist because people like to eat roast chicken.

Decades ago I discovered MorningStar Farms Grillers. They are quite tasty veggie burgers. I recommend them to any who are looking for an alternative to real hamburger patties.
Do I prefer real beef patties for my hamburgers? You bet! But on occasion I'll keep Morningstar Farms Grillers on hand for the convenience. No need for an $80M Frankenburger in my refrigerator.

Yet another processed food being enhanced with Iron:
Could This Biochemist's Veggie Burger Be The Closest Thing To Real Meat?
The secret to Browns burgers is an ingredient called heme which can be extracted from a protein found in leguminous plants called leghemoglobin. As the name suggests, leghemoglobin is similar to hemoglobin which is found in our blood. Both of these proteins are involved in transporting oxygen which is facilitated by the heme groups. Hemes consist of an iron atom centered inside an organic ring, and it is this iron that bestows the molecule with oxygen-attracting properties.
Too bad, the Western modern diet already provides an overabundance of iron. Since iron was a scarce commodity in our traditional diets, our bodies have no good way to eliminate it (excepting women) and it is lethal in oversupply.
Healthline - The Dark Side of Iron - Why Too Much is Harmful
Many "healthy" breakfast cereals already give you a toxic "100% rda" supplemented does in one serving. In fact most process foods are supplemented with iron despite the fact that there is no shortage of iron in our diets.
This is likely a big reason why men have so many heart issues in America and why women start having similar issues after menopause.
Web MD - Too Much Iron May Lead to Heart Attack
-- As the level of iron goes up in your bloodstream, so apparently does your risk for heart attack and stroke. A new study by Japanese researchers shows that high-level iron injections can cause almost immediate constriction of blood vessels. In fact, the scientists believe the iron damage could be the first step in a cascade of events leading to the thickening and hardening of the arteries known as atherosclerosis.
