I’m not an Elvis fan, but “A Little Less Conversation” was a jam!

Came across an Elvis YouTube video last month. Have been listening/watching several more of his videos and performances. I’ve come to appreciate his voice and songs from the late 50s and sixties; the ones that I’ve never heard before. Also have become reacquainted with Roy Orbison as well.

I always remember Presley’s death since it is also my birthday.

There was a time when Elvis was a phenomenon, His Hawaii concert, Aloha from Hawaii.

The day he died was a shock to those of us who grew up with his music. Heard the news on car radio driving home from work. The impact it presented was stunning.

Just this week a new recording, never heard, caught my attention which shows a side of him which brought back a flood of memories.

ELVIS SINGS “LIFE”

Tho many have tried, there will never be another ELVIS!

That was the song played on the TV show Everybody Loves Raymond when his brother got married. That episode was on tonight.

How many people do you reckon will miss you 40 years after you pass?

In the Summer of '66 in Albuquerque my friend Jeff Fanning and I went to see a special Saturday afternoon Elvis double feature. Spinout and Frankie and Johnnie. During the intermission a local band "The Monkeymen" played about a 15 to 20 minute set. We were hooked. Soon after Jeff and I started our own rock and roll garage band. We were 12 years old. Fun times. Thanks Elvis.

Look up “It’s been 40 years since Elvis left the building for good,” by Bob Green in Wednesday’s WSJ. It’s a classic.

He led a bunch of pacifists and holy men on waxworld on daring charge in broad daylight over a minefield.

A sad waste of Arnie Rimmer’s Death Machine.
