Whenever I saw him interviewed I always wondered if he truly believed his own nonsense, if he truly saw his ethic as liberating and good for society. It seemed as if he did, which was sad and pathetic.

He lived quite a life, was a prime shaper of popular culture in the ‘60s and ‘70s, obviously enjoyed himself endlessly, and his kids all seem to be OK with him, which seems to be a rare feat for rich people. Also, he gave the teenage version of me some amazing women to look at, and for that I’ll always be appreciative. RIP.
