Upbeat and bouncy. Desert Rose Band's "She Don't Love Nobody" for Servalan and Avon from Blakes 7. Servalan was the villainess in the British scifi show, Blakes 7. Incredible costumes and a fondness for Avon, murder and mayhem.

The next two songs in the current playlist are also Servalan songs. Maids When You're Young, by The Corries and Different Drummer, by Linda Rondstadt.

I wasn’t aware they had done a version of this.

I’m most familiar with the version Nick Lowe did on The Rose Of England album....am somewhat surprised that it was a John Hiatt composition but it certainly wouldn’t be the first Hiatt song covered by numerous others!

What, one wonders, is the Blake’s 7 tie-in, if any? Because it had a femme fatale?

PS I just read the book on The Flying Burrito Brothers....essentially an oral history but all the more compelling as a result.

I was always a bit skeptical about the whole Gram Parsons legend and Hillman and the Burritos confirm he was a Sid Vicious type more myth than musical substance.

Exactly. Blakes 7 and Star Trek were the two shows I spent most of my time making music videos in, back in 1988. I was always looking for songs that would show off the characters. And Servalan was such a wonderful character.

It’s also fun trying to turn songs upside down, like using Follow Me by John Denver for Travis following Blake everywhere.
