Oh did you play professionally?
I did.
Amazingly, he is.
OK, yeah, I guess it must be all very PC.
If you taunt the opposing team...even if you celebrate a bit too enthusiastically or run out a home run a bit too slowly, you or one of your teammates might have a nasty bruise on your rib cage or your shoulder after your next AB.
No, actually, maybe I see your point. It’s bulletin board material. Sure you want to heckle the other team but you don’t want to give them anything to fire them up and give them a deep dark desire to beat you. Muh bad.
Yeah, that too... I see now. Thanks for schoolin’ me.
Its not PC, its just the code between teams throwing hard objects very fast and very close to each other. Dont show me up and I dont show you up. And all is well.
I guess it’s true you don’t see grown men up there on the dugout steps yelling “he’s no pitcher just a belly itcher.” That would get severely old over a 162 game schedule. I was extrapolating from my childhood days. I do beg your pardon for my earlier ignorance.
That would crack up the few who could even understand the words today. Even the Puig tongue thing doesnt seem to get anyone upset, though hes pretty careful not to do it in face of the other team. I think the 5 game suspension they gave Gurriel next year is over the top. It could have been handled by the players and itd be over after his next AB. Theyd give him a plunk in the thigh and hed get a base. Thats all that was necessary. Message delivered. Any suspension beyond a token one game next year is over kill.
Japanese also consider Yu a foreigner despite having lived there his entire life. I doubt he is too concerned with this latest gesture.
Being called a Haole is not a term of endearment.
