Olympian’s represent America, not the president. Only Obama demanded personal loyalty, like the fuhrer.

Actually, I agree with this.

However, it represents one more instance in which people have gratuitously decided to divide us, when it is completely unnecessary to her mission.

How refreshing it would have been had she simply said, "I understand the President is a sports fan, and I look forward to representing the American people at the Olympics." There was NO NEED for her to publicly scorn the President.

Yes, Vonn is like all Americans in that she can choose who she supports politically, and she is certainly entitled to free speech.

But when public figures use their platforms to divide, they can hardly be surprised at a backlash.

She doesn't owe loyalty to the President, and the American people don't owe her any loyalty either.

Competing in the Olympics for America is not a right it is a privilege. Like any sport there is a code of conduct & sportsmanship rules.
Trash talking the leader of the USA should eliminate you from TEAM USA where your expenses are paid by the USA because you are representing America.

Sports-related costs for the Summer Games since 1960 is on average USD 5.2 billion and for the Winter Games USD 3.1 billion dollars.
