The global warming nutjobs often use Venus as the model for the catastrophic effects of runaway global warming. As if they’ve been there and understand how Venus got to be as hot as it is.

We’re told the earth’s atmosphere would be stripped away by the solar wind if the earth’s magnetosphere did not shield it.
Yet Venus, being closer to the sun, has a more intense solar wind flux, no protective magnetosphere, and a very thick atmosphere.
What’s up with that???

The goldilox zone can be very narrow.... but I’m sure that has nothing to do with it. It’s all the smoke stacks those venusians had. Quade, start the reactor. D’oh!

Does Hillary have a magnetosphere? I’m pretty sure she’s been smashed hard enough.

It’s hotter on Venus than Mercury which is closer to the Sun.

The Earth has an iron core that is about 1.5X larger than it should be. The theory is that the Earth was impacted by a Mars sized object. The iron cores combined, but other material ejected, and formed the Moon.
Without this impact, we would not have the strong magnetosphere, to protect us, nor would we have the Moon that stabilizes the Earth's rotation. The Earth would be a very chaotic place, and it's likely life would not have evolved past a biologic sludge.
That is why I find it ridiculous that people keep calling exoplanets, 'Earth-like', because they are not. In order for a planet to be truly 'Earth-like', it MUST have what the Earth received in the massive collision that created the Moon. And if you calculate the odds of that, it makes the Earth a MUCH rarer commodity.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)
