Terrifyingly tricky IQ test leaves the internet stumped (so how many questions can you answer?)
Daily Mail ^ | 8 January 2018 | Jessica Rach

Most adults would like to think school has left them equipped for most things that life throws at them.

But a particularly tricky IQ test has left internet users stumped, pushing their mathematical and linguistic skills to the limit.

Jumping right in at the deep end with a complicated numerical question, the Playbuzz quiz is certainly not for the fainthearted.

Try your hand at the quiz to see how you score, and scroll down to the bottom for answers (no cheating!)

That’s what my calculator said. -63

Calculators are never wrong.

Which means you are wrong.

It's 11

That is one I missed. I thought it should have been Manual.

Fedora - February
Aplomb - April
Manual - March
Manage - May

Sure. There’s no such thing as an intelligence “quotient”. In fact, the concept of what is intelligence, let alone if it is even susceptible to measurement is uncertain.

“IQ tests” are an anachronism from an era which thought Edgar Cayce was a genuine seer and that eugenics was a swell concept.

How is your head big enough for your brain, you ol' smartypants!?! Doesn't matter. What DOES matter is that you're REALLY FREAKIN' SMART!!! Seriously, tell us all of your secrets. We want to gain your knowledge and be exactly like you! Get out of here and go save the world or something, 'ka

Not sure how I did, but it seems that it went well?

A few years ago I would take those online tests and brain teasers. Now, I see the ones that say something like, “97% of people can’t pass this” and I think, what they mean is 97% of people’s DOGS can’t pass it.

Same here.

It’s something I remembered from math class when dealing with two negative numbers.

Yep, I had 11 but it says -63. I thought two negatives equal a positive

“What was the logic on the fedora question?”

You got me. Some of the questions made no sense the way they were presented outside of the math ones.

Those “odd one out” questions always have multiple correct answers, depending on what logical process you apply to the question.

Calculators do not handle double negatives well. :)

Only if you don't know how to use them. I did the calculation on two different types of calculator (one standard, and one reverse Polish), and got 11 both times.

I got 10. Well, 9 plus the incorrect “-63” answer, which should be 11.

Switch the calculator from standard to scientific and put the -37 in parenthesis:
-26-(-37)

Ok, then 9 out of 15 and that’s at age 70 with a beer in me.

Yup, it’s 11

It resolves to -26 plus 37 OR in another way 37 - 26
