Saban decided to go with Tagovailoa behind center

Call of the game.

If it fails Saban's an idiot....if it works...he wins #6.

It worked.

In one half of football Nick 2, became Richt 2.

Nope...Richt wouldn't have been there.

I wonder if Georgia brought back Eason when he was healthy, if they would have been better off?

I was thinking about Tua waking this morning. Here he is a rookie, 18 year old, just out of high school and last night he played two quarters of a football game and won a national championship. Where do you go from here

He says, "Okay, done that, what's next?"

I thought about that also.

Eason's problem is a lack of mobility. I think if he'd been in 'Bama would have blitzed him all night.

I’m hearing Eason may transfer to Michigan. Smart supposedly blocked him from transferring to Miami, but can you really block somebody from going to another school?

He's thinking "I'm the starter going forward." Hurts is the backup. To bad for Hurts too...he's not going to the pros.

Yes...I think you can.

I wonder if Hurts will convert to another position, he could still be an offensive weapon.

A few draw plays to Michel would have slowed that right up.

Good question....does he have the speed to play somewhere else? Tight end maybe? He’s a big dude.

Listening to 680the fan in Atlanta...the callers are all asking by Michel wasn't getting more carries in the second half.

They're also noting the kid who got beat (#14) didn't play in the SEC title game and his back up was shutting down his receiver.

Unfortunately last night he got beat...a lot. His man was open early in the first quarter...Hurts just missed him.

The Dawgs had chances...but 'Bama's size and depth took over in the second half.

That and the QB change.

It was luck. But luck counts.

There was a lot of luck both ways to be honest.

1. Georgia isn't even in OT if pappanastos plant didn't slide on the turf.

2. Bama never gets back in the game at all if one of their lineman is not pushed by a UGA OL right into the path of Fromm's pass to a wide open Sony Michel after Tua's badly thrown INT and the ball caroms off that players helmet instead of being a completion for a long gain or TD.

3. and in the play you mentioned, Tua was actually throwing in desperation to Najee Harris and if Ridley hadn't come out of nowhere the ball was going to be behind Harris and proabably intercepted.

But, even with all that this was an amazingly well-played and for the most part clean game between inarguably the two best teams in the entire nation, and Alabama gets all the credit for coming back.

As for Georgia, they learned the lesson of so many other teams -- get conservative and start playing "not to lose" and all you do is allow the other team to come back.

Saban schooled the student. Last night sealed any doubts about who the greatest college coach ever is. And this was by far Saban’s greatest coaching job, and he knows it. He genuinely looked happy about this title compared to some of the others he’s gotten. And let’s face it, some of Saban’s other Bama teams probably would have wiped the floor with this years’ Bama team. But Saban used every trick to squeeze out this title.

All those things you cited are true!

I'd also add some questionable calls by the refs.

When UGA blocked the punt and was called offsides, 'Bama's guy had moved.

When Fromm was tackled and 'Bama's player pushed Fromm's head after the tackle...no call.

Missed facemask that a blind man could have seen.

He's tired the Bear...so the pressure is off from that perspective.

But the call to change QBs was THE call of the game.

The thing is, every Bama fan was calling for the change at halftime.

Saban gets skewered if he doesn’t make the change and Bama loses the game.

But still I think all along Saban knew Tua was the ‘ace in the hole’, it was just a matter of when it was time to play it. Other coaches would have probably replace Hurts mid-season, but Saban knew better, and kept his powder dry.

I have a buddy at work who is a ‘Bama fan...he was saying the kid was the real deal early in the season.

"Eason's problem is a lack of mobility. I think if he'd been in 'Bama would have blitzed him all night. "

I agree.

Jake Fromm probably did as well as anyone else could. When Alabama's defense is 'clicking', they can make anyone look like losers.

I remember one game with LSU and Fournette was a high candidate for the Heisman, "can Alabama stop him?" Fournette gained 18 yards the whole game and fell in Heisman praise, etc.

I predict we'll see Fromm and TUA in the same game this coming year. Georgia is here to stay for a while.

I glad Alabama didn't have to play Oklahoma.
