Who believes this?These are probably the same polls that assured us in Oct. 2016 that Hillary Clinton would be the sure winner in the presidential election.

Im one of them. Unlike some lying, hypocrite Freepers who claim to boycott (post that they dont watch games then find them on Impy’s or Bender’s NFL thread bragging they saw the game).
With ratings only down around 10% this seems like a whole bunch of people lying. Not sure if they’re lying about having been fans or lying about not watching, but they lying about something.

It’s important math that the boycott self congradulaters carefully ignore. NFL is down about the same as all viewing. And they’re still the highest rated thing on TV.

Probably contributed, but it’s far from the whole picture. TV ratings are down across the board. Every network, every show type, every event. There’s a change going on in how people consume entertainment, especially the young adults. Pretending it’s one thing for the NFL while ignoring the rest of the TV numbers is ignoring the trees.
What is this NFL that you speak of? From the land of cheese buts and beer guts. There used to be a team from the frozen tundra. Legends of the past!

Down 10% this year and a comparable 7-8% last year. That’s a big cumulative loss. Then add in the declining Sunday ticket purchases, brand memorabilia sales and attendance and I bet they are nervous. It’s not a collapse but it’s a significant decline. They have to be betting on people returning once the kneelers are old news and not seen.
Not bunk. Sorry if that shakes your sense of self but out here in reality ALL of TV is down an average of 10%. Those are the FACTS.

Everybody is down, reality is changing. I doubt they’re nervous at all. They’re still the biggest game out there, with the highest ratings. Verizon just doubled what they’re paying the NFL, we’ll find out in a couple of years what happens with the rest of the contracts but so far the only people saying there’s panic are people who desperately want there to be panic.
And if you think the NFL is in trouble now, just wait until ticket sales are cancelled, and people become accustomed with NOT watching football.
It took me a few years to fully get the NFL out of my system. The average person is one or two years behind me. Ratings are going to be eye shocking bad next season.
