Trump administration withholds $65 million from “Palestinians”

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Tuesday cut tens of millions of dollars in money for Palestinian refugees, demanding that the U.N. agency responsible for the programs undertake a “fundamental re-examination,” the State Department said.

In a letter, the State Department notified the U.N. Relief and Works Agency that the U.S. is withholding $65 million of a planned $125 million funding installment to the body. The letter also makes clear that additional U.S. donations will be contingent on major changes by UNRWA, which has been heavily criticized by Israel.

“We would like to see some reforms be made,” said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, adding that changes are needed both to the way the agency operates and is funded. “This is not aimed at punishing anyone.”

The State Department said it was releasing the rest of the installment — $60 million — to prevent the agency from running out of cash by the end of the month and closing down.

The U.S. is UNWRA’s largest donor, supplying nearly 30 percent of its budget. The agency focuses on providing health care, education and social services to Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon...

From link: Bravo. Money is fungible. This is $65 million that the “Palestinians” won’t have to give to jihad terrorists.

“Haley wanted a complete cutoff in U.S. money until the Palestinians resumed peace talks with Israel that have been frozen for years. But Tillerson, Mattis and others argued that ending all assistance would exacerbate instability in the Mideast, notably in Jordan…”

Haley is right. Everything we do to oppose the jihad will “exacerbate instability in the Mideast.” This veiled threat has guided U.S. policy in the region for far too long. Essentially it amounts to bowing to violent intimidation, which only encourages more violent intimidation.

So this “withholding” amounts to 15% of the money heading that direction. Hardly crippling, little more than getting their attention.

This is how you begin to deal with such people. Then you tighten the screws.

I’m just going by the article, gut 65 is more than 15% of 125.

That is nothing. We are talking billions!!!Pakistan harbored, as a matter of national policy, osama bin laden, directly attached to its military base at Abbotabod. We should have obliterated that base and all personnel in it and destroyed any counter attack effort in such a manner that Pakistan was punished. To hell with Pakistan. Because of weak leaders in this country , we did nothing— WHICH WAS CRIMINAL!!

But then, what was this statement? Did we end up giving it to them?

Trump is giving them about half because, in my own words, we don’t want the door to slam shut all at once.

65 Million of 125 is just America’s contribution. I think they get over 500 million.

I like the move as it is. It’s a public whack upside the head, and it does hurt them. More importantly, the bad guys know Trump can keep cutting if they don’t bend, so that now hangs over their heads.

I prefer the death of a thousand cuts to simply cutting them off. Every time he cuts, it gets coverage and causes more pain for the bad guys.

While withholding $65M, still giving $60M, totaling 30%, looks around 15%.

Just ballpark numbers. Point is it’s not anywhere close to 100% cutoff.

Money represents value/wealth/productivity. In the USA, you can usually trade US$1 for a buck’s worth of something - and there’s plenty of stuff to trade for.

“Palestine” (the “occupied territories” nobody else wants) boasts a GDP of $13.4B, produced by 4,550,000 people ... about US$3000 per person per year.

We could consider that any money being used for an individual to operate at/below the poverty line is not durable. We’re talking money spent almost entirely on consumables (food eaten, clothing/shelter with no resale value). Result: money passed on represents ... nothing.

That...doesn’t seem like enough to actually operate their own currency. A Pali$1 would have too little to trade for.

All the while the demodummies are ready to shut down our own government within the month. Ah, but who’s counting?

The UN can GFI.

Meanwhile, Qatar is spending billions and billions on soccer stadiums for the 2022 World Cup.

And the UAE is spending billions and billions on a science center that's supposed to simulate living on Mars.

If the "enlightened" Arabs and the Saudis gave half a crap about the poor "Palestinians" and other "refugees", they'd at least offer to build some air-conditioned low-cost housing for them in the desert, maybe with outhouses.
