BOSTON (CBS) — Remember all that talk of the NFL losing viewership?

Not only was CBS’ broadcast of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Jaguars the most-watched game of the season, it was the highest-rated program on television since New England’s epic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in last year’s Super Bowl

it’s no more ridiculous than you not watching football cause some anti american liberal idiot like kapernick hates the USA

...

It’s ridiculous to think it’s only about Krappernick and not the NFL. The NFL ended up condoning his actions with its lack of discipline. Previous years of pink highlights on the uniforms and Hispanic month haven’t helped either.

And the owners giving Goodell a big fat new contract after this mess is the last straw.

Bottom line: Did ad revenue decrease, flatline, or increase this year?

I searched "ad revenue nfl" and according to 'AdWeek' and "The Standard media Index" Ad revenue increased (around 2%, despite a slight dip in viewership 5%).

Yeah, don’t stick up for your country or anything, and for a game no less.

Remember all that talk of the NFL losing viewership?

Yeah - because it's true. The Pats-Jaguars game may have been the highest rated TV show of the year, but that does nothing to change the fact that it was still among the lowest rated conference championship games in a decade, or the fact that the Vikings-Eagles game was also among the lowest rated conference championship games in years, or the fact that NFL viewership in general has declined drastically.

Anyone whistling past the NFL graveyard is welcome to do so - NFL advertisers are not, and will be driving the NFL's TV revenue downward.

yet it’s still the highest rated program?

I bet it’s because of the few freepers that comment how they don’t watch football on every football thread and less to do with the 22 million people that cut the pay tv cord Just this year...

Defend your disgust for the USA all you want.

I for one do not support people who flip me and my values off and symbolically spit on the flag of the country I love. And then do it again after water’s edge and grind their heel by respecting foreign flags in the same act.

But your values may differ.

Reasonable that some might want to see if a Cinderella team would beat the Cheatriots. That did not occur — likely the Cheaties continue to steal their opponents’ signals, hack into their comms, and bug the visiting team locker room.

Surveys show that it's both - general TV viewership is down, but the kneeling and the resulting backlash have had a definite effect on NFL viewership in particular.

I find it interesting that the majority (8/10) of the SBs have been very close in the past 18 years or so, often within one score. Before, the 1999 Super Bowl, only one other Super Bowl was decided by less than one score.
In the 80s and 90s they were typically blowouts. I think the it is rigged. This Super Bowl will be too. Brady will probably “drive” in the last couple minutes getting key 3rd down conversions with ticky tacky penalty calls. Boring.

You're the one who's supporting knee-jerk liberals who are "protesting" and naming calling like one. It doesn't matter to me if anyone watches or not, I just don't, but I do remember it was your NFL heroes who were wearing pink...just saying...

There was a 99.9% chance that I was not going to watch any of the Super Bowl. The NFL’s refusal to accept the AmVets ad was the last nail in the coffin.

How many marquee pitchers get 4 inches off the plate? Or, how many stars of all sports get the edge from the refs? Sure, the pass interference call was a stretch, but not equal to the Dallas flag pickup of yesteryear, remember that?

Frankly, the Jags beat themselves in the second half on offense and Brady beat the top rated Jag defense... or more accurately, he shredded it.

But, it's how he did it that earned the Patriot victory - notwithstanding the ref calls which are generally bad. Gronk is knocked out (and yes the pass interference looked like a makeup for that).

Brady beat the Jags with Danny Amendola, a 5' 11" inch receiver that runs a 4.6 - fact is, Brady finds reception room in an angstrom of space on the field and the receiver matters not.

Brady, a Trump fan, beat the Jags. Enough for me and should be for thee.

NFL ratings are down this season, but in-game ad revenue continues to grow year-over-year this season, according to new data from Standard Media Index. This season's NFL revenue, from September to the end of November, is up 2 percent among all networks.

What’s with the talking heads calling it Super Bowl “el eye eye”? Good thing the “Super Bowl” part isn’t in cursive or they’d be totally lost.

No i’m not, i’m just smart enough to realize one liberal idiot doesn’t mean the other 52 players agree with or support them. or that the coaching and support staff support them, I also realize any thing the NFL did to squash it would have been labeled racist. but I understand snowflakes like yourself are hypersensitive to those micro-aggressions.

but like i said pretend i am a kneeler and free republic is the NFl and to show that you despise me boycott free republic, makes sense right?
