Oh Great! Blame Reagan for the things that came after him!

I’m not saying I don’t blame you for feeling that way. For myself, I’m not giving up even in the face of this horrendous bill.

The Swampdwellers have been there a long time and know good and well how the game is played, but POTUS is learning.

I’ll give President Trump the benefit of the doubt, as he’s had a hell of a year just in battling the Swampers and has accomplished much in spite of them.

Civil War is coming.

No, it isn't, and the Deep State knows this.

If the President wants to win me back he can do one thing. Realize that the Budget authority is how much money Congress allows a federal agency to commit to spend.

He can order all agency heads to spend less and reduce staff by 5-10% of their commitment. There are 62 agencies and programs Trump said he wanted to eliminate. Drastically reduce spending and cut staff in these agencies / programs.

Congress can allocate money, but they can not force him to spend it.

Meant to type: “Not saying I blame you for feeling that way.”

Amnesty did come after Reagan, he gave it to us, and did nothing to secure the border. He handed us Powell, because he wanted to be the first President to promote a black to general. He got the Marines tangled into Lebanon which resulted in about 262 of them getting killed. He made Bush the first his VP.

So, what are you talking about.

I’ve had similar thoughts. Just because money is appropriated doesn’t mean it must be spent. I could be wrong but it sure makes sense.

And do you think that Congress is going to stop spending because he vetoed this particular Bill?

I said ‘I’m not going wobbly’ and ‘too much at stake’ and not that I got anything.

I don’t like it at all that what Trump got was nothing but military funding.

Congress can allocate money, but they can not force him to spend it.

You are referring to "Impoundment of Appropriated Funds".

Congress resented Nixon's use of impoundment power and removed it with the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. Not constitutional, IMO and I don't see this or any future president forcing the issue.

I’m not sure I understand your point, but of course not - congress is the problem here. They craft these horrible bills, fill them with pork, and then don’t read them.

The optics do look bad but you are right, too much at stake. Think of what Trump & Company have endured so far. We need to stick together. WE HAVE TO ENDURE TO THE END! No wobbling here either. He didn’t cave, he is up against a Deep State Coup. We are either with him or against him.

No I am not. Every year almost all agencies have not spent their budget through the normal process. They go on a huge spending spree toward the end of the physical year, not because they are forced to spend their budgeted amount, but out of fear they won’t get the same amount of money or more from Congress during the next budget cycle.

Don’t impound the funds, reduce the amount spent naturally through the elimination of unnecessary workforce and redundancy. Force his agencies to be efficient and they will all spend under the budgeted amount. Congress could do nothing.

Well as I considered with measure his words, we need a strong military for our national defense as the previous administration gutted our military and he wasn’t going to get it any other way because he didn’t have enough republican votes and needed democrat votes, I surmise that he made his best deal under the circumstances.

One thing Trump’s correct about, the filibuster needs to end on appropriations bills. For the minority party to be able to hold the country hostage this way really should not be a routine procedure, but it is.

It’s one of the core functions of congress, and the majority should have its say, with the obvious live threat of a presidential veto, regardless of which party that is.
