My own preference is a military haircut. Granted, that's my own preference because I don't have enough hair to support anything but a military haircut.
Certainly Trump will view these photo-shops. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least at the appropriate time he’d get a haircut for the shock value alone.

He looked really good at the rally tonight; I’d say younger than when his term started. His hair was not quite as dramatic as usual, his makeup was tinted better, and he looked thinner as well. If he keeps this up, he won’t age at all.
The close cropped style gives a dramatically different impression. Trump is doing it the right way. His wild comb-over is a part of his Brand.
Think of the fellow who does all those cooking shows,
Guy Fieri, with the snow white shock of hair. To see Guy in a watered down standard oil type of hair cut would change his immediate impression. Trump understands that a part of politics is show business.

Truly politically and culturally dynamic hair—it surely micro-aggresses all the right snowflakes if nothing else. But it’s still weird as heck.

I saw Ivanka long ago on Oprah they discussed her father’s hair. Ivanka smiles and said Melania cuts his hair and didn’t really like the jokes. I remember being shocked to think Melania would not assist him with a better style. It could take years off him and show a more handsome man IMO.
Personally as a woman I think he could look so much better and younger if he lost the Vegas lounge singer look. Just so you know I love Trump! The hair...not so much. ;)

You are not nuts to think the hair is sub-optimal. But there are a lot of nutty things about male hair that gets shown in the media—Trumps nuttiness isn’t any worse than all the other nuttiness I guess.

I honestly don’t think Trump is nutty. ;) I think he’s absolutely brilliant! With weird hair. But he loves it so, hey, go for it Mr. President. I don’t get a vote on that. :)
