This just in: President Kirkman will not be seeking re-election. ABC has cancelled Kiefer Sutherland’s political thriller Designated Survivor after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.
Averaging a 0.7 demo rating and 4 million total weekly viewers thus far this season (in Live+Same Day numbers), Designated Survivor ranks ninth and seventh among all ABC dramas, having dropped sharply from its freshman averages (1.2/5.8 million).
Designated Survivor airs Wednesdays at 10/9c, with its season finale set for May 16.
ABC will hold its annual Upfront Presentation to advertisers, where its complete 2018-19 schedule and new programming announcements are revealed, on Tuesday, May 15 in New York.

While it took a hard left turn in the middle of season one, I still enjoyed Designated Survivor until I stumbled upon Starz’ “Counterpart”.
I find it much more interesting and J.K. Simmons does a great job playing against himself.

“Counterpart” was excellent! J.K. Simmons does a great job in those roles. What a refreshing twisty-turny scifi show! Designated Survivor lost me with their leftist drivel as well.
I quit watching during season 5. You saying I can pick it back up at Season 7 and not be disappointed?

It’s been interesting to see the transformation of “Howard” and “Howard Prime” as the show has progressed. I especially like the fact the show is set in Berlin. The European flair adds to the uniqueness.
Simmons does a great job in the series. It’s tough to watch him do the Farmers Insurance commercials now.
I’m not sure. I quit watching after a couple of episodes.
They lost me when the lady FBI agent turned out to be more like Barney Fife than Steve McGarrett. Seemed that there were about 3 or 4 episodes in a row where she had the bad guy, then she didn’t have the bad guy, sorry, end of story. YAWN!!!
But in good news, with such liberal pablum long gone and hard to find, it appears that “Last Man Standing” will be standing tall on the Fox Network come the fall. My only hope is that they can jettison Ryan the wuss, or man him up a bit. While it was fun to have Mike rag on him for his Canadian-Leftist ways, it got as uncomfortable as watching the other 99% of the TV shows out there ragging on people for being (gasp!) a Conservative!
I watch it but I’ve always called it Designated Communist.
It has been so transparently liberal it’s hilarious. But then they have Pres. Kirkman deal with military threats like he was a parody of Trump. Tough decisive and unwavering. They even threw in a 25th amendment trial this season and Kirkman follows his victory in that by making the sleaseball lawyer, played by Michael J. Fox, a special counsel to go after his rival, a former president, and the SC turns on him.
It’s like they can’t even see how they are mimicking the worst aspects of the Dem’s coup circus. Maybe that’s why it was cancelled, it unintentionally highlighted how stupid and corrupt real life liberals are.
Another left wing political series bites the dust. Gee, I wonder why. Maybe because the wife and I do not watch any shows on CBS, NBC and ABC.
