New Orleans could once again become the home for the Super Bowl on Wednesday afternoon (May 23). That's when the city's contingent, led by the New Orleans Saints and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, will present a proposal to the NFL team owners to host the 2024 Super Bowl (58), according to the Saints and the GNOSF. New Orleans will be the only suitor for the 2024 Super Bowl at the league owners meetings, making its chances of landing the NFL's crowning event highly probable. The vote by the 31 other teams is expected to occur shortly after the city's presentation.

New Orleans will make money. Providing the mayor and city council does not kill the golden goose between now and 2024.
They will, but that’s because New Orleans is set up for events like this. They deal with conventions, Mardi Gras, Jazz Festival, all the tourists, on a daily basis and their emergency services are set up around that.
It’s like NYPD having the Yankees and Mets details. Every baseball season, officers are assigned to the either stadium and that is their job until the season ends. Season over, they go back to their original assignment.
Most cities and agencies aren’t set up like that. Especially now, when so many agencies are having personnel issues.
Yes but the city council and the new mayor could do a lot of damage between now and then.The new Mayor is an 0bama style SJW and so are a lot of the folks on the council. They may run the city into the ground like they did Baltimore.
Wasn’t aware and you’re right. In fact, I’ll say the new mayor and council, not only could do a lot of damage, they WILL do a lot of damage. Once they get a look at the numbers the NFL says they are going to bring in, they are going to try and bleed them dry.
If they were smart, the NFL would just build a nice stadium in Vegas, have the Super Bowl in the same place every year. Someplace that has pretty much morphed into the perfect location for all that stuff and has the infrastructure to support it.

I had not been to New Orleans in awhile but the first time I did go after the ban I can say it was strange to not see smoke wafting in the bars on Bourbon. Especially the blues bars and clubs. Dim lights and smoke add to the ambiance of a good blues bar, whether you smoke or not.
There was talk of banning open containers on the streets but that was going way over the line, even for the local banning crowd. No one has had the nerve to suggest a time limit on bars and alcohol sales. Not yet anyway.
