This has to be fake news....
From what I heard on Fox Business - we charge a 2.5% tariff on German cars sold here and Germany charges a 10% tariff on American cars sold in Germany.
German cars in the US control 90% of the luxury car market in the US.
“From what I heard on Fox Business - we charge a 2.5% tariff on German cars sold here and Germany charges a 10% tariff on American cars sold in Germany.”
10% of nothing?
In before the libs call Trump ‘nazi’ again
If you read the story it’s this line of “he said she said”-—
“Trump reportedly told Macron that he would maintain the ban until no Mercedes-Benz cars are seen on Fifth Avenue in New York....”
Sounds like joking sarcasm which these people ain’t used to
Angela! Achtung, baby!.....................
good- i’m till pissed at the germans because of Pearl Harbor...
Sounds like somebody wanted to short the German automakers in the stockmarket.
Looks like Im not driving a BMW anymore.
Just wait until Hitler finds out.
Can the President simply “ban” a product that legal in the USA?
He can start a trade action, perhaps for dumping, but even that must work through a process.
Trump has never said this, so I don’t believe it.
Stupid and fake
Why Not?
Germnay is the leading force behind all the coddling of all those invading mohammedans in Europe. Put pressure on the German workforce, and who knows, the folks just might take it back!
I support Trump and if this is what he knows is best I am fully behind him.
Americans should be buying American-made cars anyway.
“Americans should be buying American-made cars anyway.”

Uh,uh.
I want the best value for my buck no matter where it is made-——the same as my TV,my camera,my smartphone, and my refrigerator.

First, it sounds like a bitter joke rather than a serious proposal. If he means tariffs, that’s OK by me.
Second, most of the popular models of Mercedes and BMW are already built in the USA.
Third, adding a few thousands dollars to high-end prestige vehicles wouldn’t deter sales much, especially because there are few American alternatives. For example, the popular BMW 3-series sedan does not have an American competitor except the Cadillac ATS, which is being discontinued.
I don't have recent numbers, but in 2016 Mustang outsold the Porsche 911 in Germany. GM was even selling a few Camaros at that point, without a Chevy dealer network.
