3 big nerd movies in a row and 5 months after the previous Star Wars. Time and money are finite, people gotta make decisions. 1 a year was pushing it, 2 in 5 months is just dumb.

'Avengers' came out while 'Black Panther' was still in the theaters.

This is movie goers voting with their wallets after the dumpster fire that was 'The Last Jedi'.

I thought he was great. I completely believed he was Han. Funny...in some scenes he did look to me like Ford...but more than anything I think it was his acting that made me think so. IMHO, he nailed it.

“Didn’t help that they cast somebody who looks nothing like Harrison Ford”

I think there is some resemblance.

I quit the whole “forking money over to Disney” thing once they determined that Lando was a “pansexual”. It’s pretty racist for Disney to do this ... making the black man a person with no self control that would screw anything with a hole ... disgusting bigots.

That pansexual comment probably cost Disney around $50m total ... I know that’d still keep Solo in the red, but a lot of people were not too thrilled with the idea of a possible homo-love fest between Han and Lando. I mean, the scum out there wanted to see Finn and Poe get it on in Ep 7 (God forbid men are instant friends these days ... since the degenerates out there view everything through sex lenses, making a friend automatically means they’re banging them I guess).

I cannot wait to see Ep IX crash and burn. They wanted to burn everything to the ground (in the middle chapter of a story ... idiots) ... they’ll be getting their wish!

Also, that Rian Johnson freak’s SW trilogy is going to be a snoozefest ... mark my words, that trilogy will be garbage. That moron cannot craft stories. I watched The Last Jedi the other day and cannot believe how badly that was cut and pasted together (only the intro scene and last sequence were good, but the last sequence is almost a ripoff of Hoth).

Still in a couple of theaters from 3 months ago is different. Avengers, Deadpool, SW back-to-back-to-back is rough for lower income nerds. Last Jedi hate probably didn’t help either. And 5 months apart is rough. I love SW, there is no question on if I will see a SW movie in the theater, most of the time I buy tickets for multiple showings on the weekend, I enjoyed LJ (actually I REALLY like that Rei isn’t a Skywalker, which really made a lot of dumb people mad, it makes the galaxy bigger, and that’s good, turning SW into Skywalker soap opera was a mistake). And even I was all “5 months, really”. I still saw it twice opening weekend, and enjoyed it, but I didn’t have my usual level of SW energy walking into that theater. They should go to an 18 month schedule, give us some breathing room.

pansexual

I don't think they had that one when they invented the rainbow flags that have been flying all over DC ever since Trump/Pence became an item. Back to the drawing board. They need another "color."

I am surprised that I haven't seen this one around this town, the "gender-fluidity flag"

This is the color key

The Pink represents femininity.
The White represents the lack of gender.
The Purple represents the combination of masculinity and femininity.
The Black represents all genders, including third genders.
The Blue represents masculinity. [Surely this isn't allowed. Blue is obviously a toxic color]

I am not a huge theatre goer aside from live performances, and went to see Solo in a 3D cinema with the chairs that move around as well. I enjoyed it, much more so than the last iteration of the Star Wars saga.

I didn’t like The Last Jedi, but Solo was really good. What almost ruined it was the stupid L3 SJW robot, but fortunately that was quickly remideed. It was also insinuated that Lando was in a sexual relationship with the robot. Totally unnecessary. The movie was good other than that. TLJ however, dumb.

Agreed.

For the third and last time, I’ll post my review, written 30 minutes after seeing the first showing in my town:

*****

Just saw it.

It Was AWESOME :)

OK, a bit overdone, the train robbery.

Han was very much the star. So he’s not a clone or CGI double of Harrison Ford circa 1977. Good enough for me.

How he got his name...

How he met Chewbacca...

Winning the Falcon from Lando...not when you expect...

BTW, Lando only gets the hots for the cute girl...and I kept seeing her as Danaerys Targaryen and imagining her in the state of nature :)

TWO surprise castings, both drew their own applause...one of them for the actor, the other for the actor/character...

SJW message? Meh... No more so than the message that made my double-great grandfather join a regiment of volunteer infantry upon a time...

“No one has made the Kessel Run in under 20 parsecs!” ... “Hold muh beer” (well, not quite...)

So THAT”S why the Falcon looked like a “piece of junk” to Luke so long ago (in our era)...

No vilification of religion, Americanism (I found the violent pro-liberty interlude very American on both counts!),poly-ticks or honkitude...

Anyway, it was the very first showing in my metro area. Yeah, sparsely attended, but yeah. most folks are at work, and if I wasn’t on a “four ten-hour day” schedule, I would be too!

...which leads me to believe that NOT ONE PERSON in this grumpy get-off-my-lawn thread had actually SEEN it before trashing it.

No yawns!!

...

The very first villain is a female-sounding monstrosity that resembles a giant bug and is hurt by exposure to light.

Sounds like Hildabeast to me!

The actor didn’t look like a young Harrison Ford. He also didn’t speak like or have the same mannerisms as Harrison Ford. Not even close. No excuse for this!

The Star Trek reboots managed to find actors who are believable as younger versions of the original characters: Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, etc. Why the Stars Wars team couldn’t do a better job of casting and directing the actors is inexplicable to me.

'Solo' was Star Wars. It should have been 'Deadpool 2' worried about opening up to such a huge event.

They weren't. And 'Deadpool' might actually pass 'Solo' in their 3rd week over 'Solo' in it's 2nd.

Ouch.

Great! I love your descriptor-phrase above. It accurately portrays, unfortunately, many grouchy Freeper threads.

Star Wars fans are boycotting Solo.

This is not about Solo being a mediocre movie. The majority of fans are upset over how bad The Last Jedi was, and are more upset over how Disney has treated them over it. Ever since The Last Jedi was released, Disney has defended it by attacking criticism, and by extension the critics, as sexist, racist, or a small number of fans who need to grow up, instead of admitting they made a mistake.

Then, after being insulted for several months, they are told by Disney's shills in movie news and social media to go see Solo "for the good of the franchise". Fans are pretty upset over this. A lot of fans who are refusing to see Solo because of this and are planning the same for Episode IX, myself included.

Actually, the “Star Wars Fatigue” isn’t too far off. IMHO, I’m just sick of all the super-duper-hero movies that seem to come out every other week. After the disappointment (to me) that was the last “Avengers” movie, I’ve had enough of that genre for the spring and maybe the summer as well.

I suspect I’m not alone here.

So what is the problem with the movie? Must be something?

Maybe it’s just over saturation of the market with too many Star Wars movies too soon. In the original trilogy, there were several years between each of the movies.

That's Star Wars Disney Producer and Lucasfilm President(who took over when Lucas sold his rights) Kathleen Kennedy in the black shirt.

It is Kennedy who has launched the Social Justice Crusade of the current Star Wars movies.

All Diversity, All the Time.

White Men are evil.
