If it was large and identifiable as a "Black Widow" it wasn't "His" hands. It was a female.

Don't know where you read that but the Brown Recluse is the most poisonous spider in North America. If you had been bitten by a Recluse you itchy spot for months.You would have had a far more severe reaction months ago.

“Most poisonous” does not mean “100% deadly”. That is the impression everyone gets with Recluse AND the Widow. But apparently only in special cases, esp. small children, is the Recluse really, really dangerous.

Doesn’t mean we’ll go seeking a Recluse or Widow to bite us for fun, but not quite the scary assured-death we are made to think it is.

This reads like a satire, and some of the grammar doesn’t make it any more credible.
