If the NFL thinks its new rule designed to quell player protests will end its national anthem controversy, it may want to think again.

With less than three weeks to go until the start of preseason, Tennessee Titans star defensive end Jurrell Casey told CNN Sport on Wednesday in an exclusive interview he will remain on the field and protest during the US national anthem, while accepting any fines levied on him this season.

I thought the team received the fine and it was up to the teams to decide how they handled the players.

“I have no problem if he wants to protest or tweet or do whatever on his own time.”

A 7 year old bad tweet from a 17 year old resulted in mandatory diversity training in MLB. I would think any NFL player tweeting disrespect for the flag should have to volunteer at a veterans hospital for a week.

Ah, the National Felon’s League once again shows that there is no low barrier beneath which they will not slither.

Keep it up, dumb*sses.

Does he have a web site I can view to see all of the time, effort, and money he put into this cause over the offseason?

It’s so important to him so I have to assume he at least spent a couple minutes every week kneeling on own time. It wouldn’t take much effort or money to stream the kneeling live every time he did it. But I’m sure he did much more than that with so much free time and no game to prepare for every week.

defensive end Jurrell Casey told CNN Sport on Wednesday in an exclusive interview

It's telling of the status of this former news organization that they'd boast an "exclusive interview" of this mental riff Raff.

Head coach: "Fines? We won't be levying any stinking fines my man. We'll be sitting your ass on the bench. There. Deal with that."

Back when this started, I wonder how things would have turned out if most coaches had said "If you're too tired to stand up for the anthem you're too tired to play".

I used eat, sleep, and breathe football from Labor Day to February. Sunday noon through Monday at midnight you could find me in front of a TV. I was in a half-dozen fantasy leagues, and simply couldn't get enough of the NFL.

Things changed, slowly and by degrees. Refs called more penalties, and most long-yardage plays had flags come out. This, along with interminable "instant replay" delays slowed the games down. The NFL added Sunday morning games in Europe, and Sunday night games to their schedule. Mondays were no longer locked-in from 9 to midnight, they added an extra game here and there. Thursdays (beyond Thanksgiving) were added in, and the games weren't broadcast on National TV. I began to lose interest.

Bob Costas insisted on lecturing us on the current political fad, and BO showed up on telecasts to pimp his latest thoughts. That really turned me off, never mind whether I agree or not, I want to see football, not more politics.

So, when these idiots started doing their thing a couple of seasons ago, I started to pull away from football. Kept a finger in, watched a few games, but it was more out of habit than anything else.

Last year, nada. The politics turned me off completely, and the fact that the players, owners, and top brass (Goodell) told me, and everyone like me, to "Kiss Off" when we complained, proved that it was the right decision. My old favorite team made the playoffs, but I didn't see more than a few minutes of them playing.

Honestly? I thought that I'd miss it more. I enjoyed my Sundays, spent a lot more time with the wife and kid, and got plenty of puttering done around the house. It's far more fun to go to the park, get some exercise, and watch WBill Jr. ride his bike, than plunk my butt in front of the TV.

I'm not Boycotting, that would imply that I might go back if their behavior changes. Nope, I'm "indifferent", which for the NFL is much, much worse. For instance, quite often last season I completely forgot about the Thurs/Mon night games. I don't even give the game a thought, something that would have been totally inconceivable two years ago.

That's bad news for them, and worse news for their advertisers. I wonder how many others are like me?

Goodell could jump off the Golden Gate Bridge and it still would not motivate me to go back to watching the FNFL.

Would you like to see the instant replay on that? 😁
