My paternal grandmother was the family genealogist. She had photos and meticulously written notes about our ancestors going back to Scotland. Alas, she developed Alheimers and, in a fit of depression, destroyed most of it.We had the same thing happen re our Irish line. Tragic. She had done so much work, and then threw it all away.

Wow, I recall some old 77 rpm phonograph records, but no Edison cylinder records.

They are cool, but they’re extremely fragile.

Yeah, the 78s are more common, probably cause they’re more solidly built. Some of ‘em are pretty thick. Had quite a few of those around the house, too, growing up.
Everybody left their records at home so there was a wide array of hand-me-down music to listen to, fun days!

My aunt gave me a cd of family images she scanned. She was very excited. Spent months on it.
Each was scanned at 72dpi roughly at 7x5 and, apparently, she used a low-end scanner. Utterly useless for printing. Not really great for viewing either.
If a person doesnt know what they are doing they may end up wasting time.

Oh, no...I think my scanner is great, whether I am scanning correctly" makes me wonder though...thanks for the prompt to do some checking.
