If the Red Sox win it will be because Sale gets Red Hot and goes deep into his games and they find a way to bludgeon Keuchel (who could be the weak link amongst the Houston arms). If that happens, they win. If Sale loses close games in his matchup with Verlander, they will be hard pressed.

He was the ‘Bench Coach.’ That is, assistant coach who advises the coach - and takes over if, for any reason, the coach is ejected. Like a Lieutenant Coach.

Championship droughts for MLB Final Four
1969-Seattle Pilots/Milwaukee Brewers-never have won a championship, only World Series appearance was in 1982 against St Louis Cardinals.
1988-Los Angeles Dodgers-Defeated Tony La Russa’s Oakland A’s for last Series win.
2013-Boston Red Sox (this is the 100th anniversary of 1918 World Series win, Red Sox did not win another until they bottled up the Yankees and then the Cardinals in 2004).
2017-Houston Astros-defending champions, last season was their second World Series appearance and first Series win since entering MLB as an expansion team in 1962 (as the Houston Colt 45s).

Really, a good game. Classic Dodger loss...they fall behind and then make a mad rush that just falls short. Having to pinch hit Puig was pivotal, as Puig is terrible in those situations. Turner is ice cold and Bellinger has become a waste of space...but in truth, it was the rather uncharacteristic fielding lapses that did them in. The Brewers REALLY wanted this game, letting Hader go so long, eliminating him from consideration tomorrow. I’m not really enameled of the Brewer manager’s strategy here...he burned his bullpen very early. I think that may come back to hurt him in a long series. He really angered his starter too, taking him out after two innings.

Big Pape agreeing with you, about the starter, right now.

Odds say the team that wins the first game of these series, go on to win this series. Something like, by 70% chance.

We shall see.

We need a thread for these Division playoff games, leading up to the WS.

Maybe I’ve missed it?

Pete, this sounds like a job for you, buddy.

I’m going with the Crew and ‘Stros. 2 teams that switched leagues, that would be crazy.

Extra innings on the left coast. Why did I have to start watching this? I gotta get to bed.

Why haven’t you started the LCS thread yet, Pete?
