To see what her real condition is I'd look to ambiguous NYT and Wa. Po. articles about her current health. They're often written ambiguously, like old Pravada articles, to disclose the facts in a way designed to hide the real truth from us yokels while disclosing it to the "sensitive sophisticates" who are really in the know.
Yep. I broke 3 ribs in 7th grade. Took 6 weeks before I was back on the football team.
If she previously had cancer it could very well be in her bones now and so, yeah, broken ribs but it may not be the whole story.
How does an 85 year old frail Woman break 3 ribs, goes home and only shows up at the hospital several hours later because of the pain.... Over my life I’ve had numerous broken ribs. Besides not coughing, sneezing, laughing, rolling out of bed, etc., I couldn’t even shiite without screaming nor couldn’t urinate without moaning.
Why do you even care?.... Because it is fake news?
Broken ribs have to heal as they are - you can’t put a caste on a person’s ribs. And she’s old - so broken bones are more common for smaller injuries.
The story might be truthful. Too bad the press isn’t honest... too bad we all have to make guesses. That said, my guess is it’s possible the journalist reporting the story was telling the truth.
At her age, 3 broken ribs would be a very serious injury. Broken ribs cause lung bruising and fluid buildup in the lung.
Pneumonia is a serious threat to someone even younger

When I was in the army many long years ago a friend and colleague at the office had a similar situation. He’d been treated for cancer and started breaking his ribs. Then one of the broken ribs punctured a lung and killed him.
Also, with age comes a higher pain threshold. But, yeah, she needs to retire.

Heck, I just had pulled rib muscles, let alone broken ribs. It hurt like h*ll for weeks.
