This reflects a widespread disrespect of the Trumps within the political class. The GOP, the Democrats, the Press...it’s the same situation.

I didn’t like the unelected Hillary or Michelle having power, and even though I think Melania is 100% right, I don’t like the “office. Of the First Lady” being formalized.

Exactly, If Melania wants to have a say in setting policy she should run for office. Else the FLOTUS's job is to support the president in achieving the goals he was elected to fulfill and MAGA

These disputes should remain internal.

More importantly , this could have been handled quietly without lending credence to "The Trump white house is a snakepit" narrative that media likes to peddle. Just really poor judgement all around.

Whoever is giving the President and FLOTUS such bad political advice is not their friend.

You have missed the part that the lady in question was leaking.

There is nothing, short of her voting demoncrat, that I couldn't take this wonderful lady's side in any situation...

If any staff aide had done the same thing to FLOTUS klintoon or FLOTUS moochelle, the aide would have died in a tragic accident...

If this reads correct: National Security Advisor objects to larger than usual Security, bitches about small press.

Sorry, but Melanie wins.

Never Trumpers are rabid.

Seems Melania tried to handle it quietly, but the #2 NSC person insisted on being a persistently obnoxious & vengeful irritant. This wasn’t a matter of policy, it was “respect muh authotitayh!” [Cartman].

Disparage the left, exalt the right. Forget fairness and even-handedness.

Decide whether something should be aired or covered up based on political considerations.

Weaponize opinions, weaponize right and wrong.

If I get in a beef with Mattis\Kelly\Mrs. Trump\Mrs. Trump’s staff....I’m the common denominator, so the problem is with me, even if I’m right.
I gotta go.

Agreed. Even though I understand Melania is succesfull in her own right, her position as First Lady is not political....it is domestic. (Yes, I said it)

More importantly , this could have been handled quietly without lending credence to "The Trump white house is a snakepit" narrative that media likes to peddle. Just really poor judgement all around.

Yes. This is an obvious problem; the POTUS and FLOTUS are surrounded by those who wish them ill.

I did see that, but publicizing it only lends the "snakepit" meme legs.

Handle it quietly, mover her office to the basement next to the heating pipes and give her some assignment like championing womens rights in Saudi Arabia. That's how insubordinate jerks should be handled. Now she is the subject of a news story, a political martyr and a hero to press and the left and bushies who will rescue her and make sure she has a cushy landing.

Very frustrating seeing some of these amateurish moves by the administration that has the potential to change the political landscape in unprecedented ways. It would be a waste to squander this chance to effect lasting change on such small bore nonsense

She threatened to revoke NSC resources associated with the trip, meaning no policy staff would advise the first lady during her visits to Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Egypt.

If she's threatening to not do her job, then she deserved to get fired.

I agree with this. The FLOTUS gets to express her opinion about the President's staff in a hundred different ways. Doing so publically is inappropriate, IMO.

It's messy and has the potential to make the President look weak ... and the publicity could drive a wedge between the President and other staffers, particularly the ones who defended Melania's nemesis.

Going public is especially ill-timed now with all we've got going on with stealing elections, Dem takeover of the House, promised investigations.

I think this makes Melania look petty and mean. I'm disappointed in her.

I don’t care what job you have... pissing off the bosses wife is never a good idea for your career.

No one's arguing this. But taking it public is never the right move.

If pillow talk isn't working for her, then the FLOTUS stands down.

Throwing it to the press is uncalled and unhelpful. Period. It's also beneath the dignity of the "Office of the First Lady" ... whatever the hell that is.

Slovenians and Croatians have had boundary squabbles for centuries - maybe it’s a bit of that too.
