I teach in a rural attendance zone. Currently, our elementary, middle, and high schools serve less than 20 EL students. So far this year, I have none.
I find it disconcerting:
- students who receive free/reduced breakfast/lunch dispose of their entire meals in the trashcan! Yet, as they go through the line they have money to purchase chips, ice cream, fruit roll-ups, etc., but come to school with no basic supplies such as pencils and paper.
AND, “Policy taken from the ALSDE EL Guidebook”:
- “All language-minority students must be allowed to attend school, regardless of their ability to produce a birth certificate, social security number, or immigration documentation.”
- “If parents do not have student immunization records available, the dates of immunization may be obtained by calling the previous school the student attended.”
THIS IS a double-standard when citizen students are REQUIRED to produce the above documents for school attendance but non-citizen students are given a free-pass.
Although autism is the most recent rampant diagnosis, there remains attention-deficit disorder diagnoses where students are, IMHO, overly medicated when what they really need is time to run around and PLAY.
Bottom line for me is too much government intrusion on both the state and federal levels. Follow the money! And not just the big pharma money as it is also the testing/assessment monies.

Over the course of my tenure as a teacher, I have taught children affected by fetal alcohol syndrome, “meth babies,” and students identified with every special education label.

Yes, it is. There is so much mail theft now- packages stolen from doorsteps, mail stolen from mailboxes, mail arriving opened from post office, empty packages being delivered.
And let’s talk vandalism: copper pipe and wiring being stolen out of new buildings, public art being destroyed for the bronze and copper, bronze plaques being stolen from public buildings and memorials, and even plants being stolen out of the ground in newly landscaped industrial areas.
We’ve imported a lot of scavenger cultures into our country. There is theft going on on so many levels that it boggles my mind. My father used to say, “How sad, their integrity is only worth $___.”
More important for protection from heat rays, gold is an excellent reflector.

POTUS is very good at keeping the lid on the pot. This stuff is boiling at the peak of blowing the lid. Yet the good guys are continuing to tighten the net and methodically align everything to sink the eight ball.
Either
a) that line of thinking is wrong, the good guys are actually incompetent and POTUS (like ]SESSIONS[ lol) clueless, etc. ...
or
b) Trust the Plan

The timing here is interesting though ... there is a window for events + opportunity post Thanksgiving possibly? Otherwise we get to the new year.
In trusting the plan we have to acknowledge that we don’t know what they know and we don’t know what we don’t know.
That’s frustrating ... I’d like to see this stuff nailed down. Sooner or later ... but IT’S TIME - sooner is appropriate here and I’d think another date comes into play:
As I understand it and “Q” has posted suggesting thinking is that DEC[L]AS has happened and ready to go. It is / has been done in response to tailored strategic inquiries and requests from members in the current congress. POTUS can do anything, anytime of course - but, strategically, these lines of inquiry, etc., have established legal foundation for such - and that will expire EOY.
