An unruly squirrel is defying Disney stereotypes by terrorizing one Houston neighborhood, according to KPRC-TV.
We usually dont go outside in the daytime because he comes out in the daytime, Sharlene French-Amezquita told the TV station.
The feral animal whos anything but friendly has even attacked two people, leaving them bloodied, bruised and in need of stitches.
When I stepped outside the door he leaped on me and bit my arm, I pulled him off, threw him to the ground, and tried to get in the house, said French-Amezquita. I couldnt get in the house because he came back, he bit this leg.
She has the stitches and bite marks to prove it. The squirrel also attacked Katie Herrera who lives in the Bridgeland Shores neighborhood.
Its scary, Herrera said. Im just very grateful that it actually attacked me and not my children.
Residents have contacted both animal control and Texas Parks & Wildlife. They were told until someone traps the squirrel, they cant move it.
” Just what you see pal.” :)
I imagine you have many happy memories of him.
RIP Ranger.
THAT is one funny story. Thanks!
To live in such a time as this...
OMG! LMAO!
Good one ol’ chap! Truly a gut buster.
One pellet and the problem would be over. What is wrong with the people around there that they put up with this nonsense?
SSS, indeed. It’s Texas for goodness sake.
Or get a cat.
SO glad I was not eating or drinking anything when I read this! VERY funny!
Have you read Patrick McManus? You should.
If you can pull together 15-30 experiences like this, you should try writing a book.
Ping me if you do.
NOBODY has a pellet gun or a .22??
Seriously? An entire neighborhood terrorized by a squirrel??
Nobody owns a BB gun or a pellet gun? A slingshot? (Never mind a .22). What is WRONG with those people??
The neighborhood needs a few people like my brother. He thoroughly enjoys being a redneck. He’s been known to shoot squirrels out of the pecan tree in his back yard without even going outside- he just shoots out of the bathroom window! In his neighborhood, nobody would think twice about the gunshots; he’s not inside city limits and backyard target practice isn’t uncommon.
The article does not mention rabies as a concern for those attacked by the squirrel. This may be due to the lack of wild animal rabies cases reported in the Houston area.
Is this like Monty Pythons rabbit?
Squirrels???
Where,
WHERE?
Great story about Ranger!
I once had a Yellow Lab (Lucy) who was a squirrel hunter, too. I wrote her a Haiku. I was inspired when I saw her, for the hundredth time, gazing up into one of the many oak trees in the yard:
Evil gray squirrel
I will bite you hard one day
Until then I wait
Lucy also brought a live Chipmunk into the house. I never did find it - or smell it, dead. I asked her no further questions about it, LOL!
What? LOL!
“.....Rabies is actually very rare in small mammals like squirrels. The best sign that a squirrel or any animal might be infected with rabies is any out of character behavior. This might include lethargy, falling over, walking in circles, paralysis (total or partial), unprovoked aggression or unexplained fearlessness.....”

Rabies was the 1st thing that came to mind.
The Squirrel Grenade, a classic post from 2004!
