CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.

Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

Police say ‘excessive wearing’ of N95 mask contributed to driver passing out, crashing car!

https://www.ozarksfirst.com/life-health/coronavirus/police-say-excessive-wearing-of-n95-mask-contributed-to-driver-passing-out-crashing-car

3 years ago in the fall, we had the horrible fires over N. California, and our FP recommended buying the N95 mask when going outside due to the smoke that didn’t clear.

We found out very quickly on our regular walks, going up any hill, it was difficult to breathe properly.

Also, they were so effective in blocking incoming particles the outside of the masks after about an hour outside were covered with soot.

Then, when we took off the masks, the insides were covered with our snot, again in about an hour’s use age outside.

Tricky to use and probably not great for outdoor use age.

It’s to appease us and make us think we are safe, and to force us all to carry the flag of repression, visible signs over our mouths that we have willingly bowed down in submission to our governments.

Some less willingly than others.

Even now they aren’t recommending medical grade for the public.

I bet they would/will if/when they had/have enough to go around.

If you make your own mask, make it out of the most closely woven material you can, (think those 800 thread count pillowcases)

Yeah like I own any of those. ;)

Actually if everyone wore masks, it would go a long way to keeping the public from being freaked out. And the economy would likely recover faster. But maybe you like lock downs. Lock downs will come back if cases go up.

Bottom line: Herd immunity is coming. Whether Dr. Tony likes it or not.

Face masks are actually the high-tech version of social (physical) distancing. That is the greatest reason for wearing them — and not as these “experts” are proclaiming, that they are not a substitute for social distancing. They are far superior to it.

The reason for maintaining a six foot distance from others is that in case someone sneezes, coughs, spits, or breathes rigorously (exercising) into the air — six feet may be enough space to protect against that fallout. Otherwise, there is nothing magical about six feet of distance protecting one from the “aura” or “vibes” from someone infected — or even if not.

Hopefully, one will be wise enough to avoid one sneezing or spitting on them — unlike a lot of doctors with Ph.D.s in epidemiology. If they do, there is protection regardless of who is wearing them, and even better if both do — because the important thing is not to breathe in the contaminated air from another’s lungs. That works because there is actual matter (material) between the two not allowing a straight shot into another’s respiratory system.

But some researchers have done tests to show that a vigorous expellation can travel as much as 20-30 feet, or whatever is the record for spitting. But if one is wearing a mask of any tangible construction, it won’t get through. Likewise, if I wanted to retaliate, my mask would prevent me from reaching them — and if we both are wearing one, it is the acknowledgement that any attempt to harm another in that manner — even if we wanted to, would be futile.

Apparently in the circles the Sturgeon General, CDC, and WHO matriculate in — they are in imminent danger of others sticking their fingers up their noses and mouths — after coming out of the restrooms, and so one should wash their hands vigorously, obsessively, and compulsively in case the other person didn’t — and that will make things even out — in their world of equal outcomes for everyone no matter what they do.

But that’s obviously not how the real world works — and that seems to be ignored with all their edicts — and then absurd rationalizations. There are actually many countries that have the virus under control — and the masks are primarily the reason for that success, because they are effective.

Meanwhile, we are all directed not to wear masks — so we can all get infected, and then Bill Gates will have a captive audience for the vaccine he intends to deliver in 2-3 years, or maybe never. Right after the anti-virus software.

Even Dr. Tony has debunked that one. He said you'd have to be some type of contestant in a professional distance sneezing contest.

Surgeon General had to lie to us about wearing masks because he didn’t want a run on medical masks.

The CDC did differ at the beginning of this sham, telling us that masks don’t work, so don’t stock up on masks. You can say it was because they needed them for medical staff, but if they don’t work then how do they help medical staff? Fauxi first said this virus was mild and we had nothing to worry about, then it was on par with the Black Death. At this point, a governor could decree that his/her medical experts advise him that everyone should drink their own pee to prevent the virus from infecting them and within an hour half the state and many others would be walking around with piss breath. Talk about mindless herd mindset. The non-medical masks are just particle collectors and the particles including any virus will work its way through and into your lungs.

The record for spitting a watermelon seed is 75 feet.

What annoys me about watching televised sports — is how often and vigorously a lot of those guys spit, and when they get knocked out, their mouthpieces go flying so far they can’t find them.

I'm sure that played a role. Our medical mask supply would have looked like our toilet paper supply. As the father of an ICU nurse I appreciate it if that's what he did.

Pretty sure the CDC general guidance against masks predates Wuhan Flu though.

I don’t own any, because I have some high quality masks my husband bought years ago. But, if I didn’t have those, and I wanted to make masks, the first place I’d look, would be thrift stores that receive donations from wealthy people. If that failed, I’d call fabric stores to see if they carried a heavy thread count cotton (people used to make their own pillow cases). Failing that, I would bite the bullet and spend the $20 or so, and buy a set of pillow cases. I might see if a friend would go halvesies with me, if I had to. :)

I agree with what you’ve said.

But people shouldn’t drop their guard on social distancing just because of masks. Masks help but they are not 100%. And the CDC warned about getting overconfident because of masks and not social distancing.

We need to do both.

My governor has shut down all the thrift stores as non-essential.
