I wish. I work with people that take the masks so seriously one woman even has police tape across her doorway to keep anyone from walking close to her desk. Another locks her door and insists you hand her everything through a window pass through. They won't get over this easily. Me...I'm the oldest in the group and have to handle every invoice, check, dollar bill, manifest etc that has been handled by a dozen people today. A mask won't do me much good.

In the 1980s, the vaccine companies almost went under because of floods of lawsuits from anti-vaxxers based on absolute nonsense claims repeatedly found to be baseless in courts. So Congress stepped in between them and created the National Vaccine Injury Compensation program to ensure that anyone who actually is injured by a vaccine gets appropriate compensation.
That program does not require any medical proof of a vaccine causing an injury to pay out. They don't require any medical evidence supporting your claim. All you need to do is make a reasonable claim that a vaccine injured you and you get paid, usually 6-figures. And with that low bar, they pay about 1 claim per 1 million vaccinations.
So yes, they're safe.
I am betting that some state governors will try to keep it permanent.
