I remember something I always wanted to ask you guys - about the word ‘delta’. Obviously, I know what’s meant by the one-year delta between Q drops or one-minute delta with a Trump tweet, but my question is “why ‘delta’?”
I had never heard the word ‘delta’ used that way before, so I looked it up, and there were the usual things: river delta, the Greek letter, a triangular shape; but I could never find a definition of ‘delta’ that fit the context of a timestamp delta, as used here. Does anyone know how that got started?
Someone with skilz needs to check it out and figure if real or not. My spidey sense says “not real”. But what do I know.

What Does Delta Mean? ... Difference is the most common meaning of the uppercase delta. It is simply the difference, or change, in a certain quantity. When we say delta y, for example, we mean the change in y or how much y changes. Discriminant is the second most common meaning of the uppercase delta.
