One of my all-time favorites
Along with the ORIGINAL “Producers” and “Some Like It Hot”.
I don’t think ANY of them could be made today.
(The newer “Producers” is just a pale shadow of the earlier one)

The founders of NL (such as Doug Kenney) wanted to do an SNL-style show with all that talent they had discovered, but the parent company that called the shots (and was lukewarm about much of what NL did anyway) nixed the idea, so Lorne Michaels stole the idea (and the talent) and SNL was born.

IIRC A Christmas Story was remade for TV live presentation in ‘17. Matt Broderick played the Jean Shepard adult Ralphie as a looking back narrator. Generally the show was awful.

The vignette w/ Aretha was priceless.She was a freaking gem. They didn't originally know what to do with her in Chicago. Wasn't until she went to Mussel Shoals that she broke through. Same with Etta James. I cannot imagine a music library without those to women, and we came damned close to not having them.

I thought of that gif of the Blues Brothers running the Nazis off a bridge when a
thread was posted yesterday of Hamas supporting Nazis were protesting on bridges. Too bad there are no Blues Brothers around today to run terrorism supporters off a bridge.
And of course I hate Palestinian Nazis too
