California will be paid at least $20 an hour beginning Monday when a new law is scheduled to kick in.
Well it’s going to have a lot of empty and clean parking spaces and more state tax money down the drain.

I have a problem with the idea that a job flipping burgers should support a family of four. It has always been a “starter job”. Not only that but what does it do to the entry level job holders that can no longer afford the budget foods of the past. It actually hurts more people than it helps.

LOL, what I’m reading in my local paper (SoCal) is robotics taking over for the French fries and AI being installed for the drive-thrus.
There are already skeleton staffs at places like MacDonald’s - and you WILL be ordering from a kiosk - took the kids to MacDonald’s and there was no one in the front. We ordered from a kiosk and the food was brought out to us. Saw very few people in the back - and the prices have gone WAY up - it’s no longer affordable to take all the kids there.

That thump you heard was tens of thousands of marginal workers hitting the unemployment line.

Yes, in a round about way. You see when they raise the minimum wage that regrades the union wage considerably so then they threaten to strike if the do not receive raises that are commensurate t pouting them at the scale difference they had before the minimum wage increase. Then everything rises around them because now the owners have to make up the addition pay to the union workers. So in essence everything remains the same, except for those whose incomes remained the same. They begin to fade out of middle-class status and creep into the working poor status.
Then everyone starts to sing.
