This is exactly “big” robbery plot from the James Caan movie -thief. Great movie. James Caan in an interview about the movie before he died said he thought it was his best performance and movie he ever did.

From another source:
Easter Cash Heist: Burglars Steal Millions From Money Storage Facility In Sylmar

The FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating a multi-million-dollar heist that happened at a money storage facility in the San Fernando Valley on Easter Sunday. The burglary happened at the GardaWorld facility located on the 15000 block of Roxford Street in Sylmar. LAPD is calling it one of the largest heists in LA history. A source with the FBI confirmed to NBC4 that millions of dollars were taken. An employee at GardaWorld, who asked to remain anonymous, spoke to NBC4 about the security system at the San Fernando Valley facility.“The place is pretty secure, alarm system, they check that the alarm is set up, so, just to think that they were able to go through the security system and get away with all that money, it’s a shocker,” said the employee. Images from Newschopper4 showed a damaged wall on the backside of the GardaWorld building near the corner of San Fernando Road and Roxford Street. Investigators have not confirmed if the damage is related to Sunday’s theft.

Wonder if the occupant of the building next door is a red-head? And he’s been copying pages from the Encyclopedia Britannica for the past several weeks?

The insiders who maybe hooked up with the operators should turn up dead fairly soon. If the insiders ARE the operators they shouldn’t be hard to find.

This is reminiscent of another SoCal vault heist - the United California Bank robbery on March 24, 1972, in Laguna Niguel CA, where the criminals also accessed the building from the roof, and the alarms were disabled. They cleared out the vault containing the safe deposit boxes.

Wikipedia

Broeckel helped inside the vault to bust open safe deposit boxes. Christopher played a key role in disarming the alarm. The total stolen was estimated at nearly $9 million. The gang gained entry to the vault by using dynamite to blast a hole in its reinforced concrete roof.

This year is the 52nd anniversary of that robbery.
