Jubilee!.................
When I was courting my bride-to-be, in college, we used to ride the train into Chicago to see the Art Institute or the Field Museum, or a concert, or to window-shop. Some of those days were quite cold and windy.
It was an oft-repeated treat for us to step into one of those Wimpy’s Grills they used to have and get some hot coffee, and to share a slice of the best cherry cheesecake we’ve ever had. We had few resources; but we worked on campus and saved up just enough to do that. Those were wonderful days, 58 years ago.
I get diabetes from just looking at that!
My Mom (Bless her soul) used to make this for every family cookout during the Summer. Crushed almond and butter crust. It was soooo rich. Yummo!
I used to make Royal no-bake cheesecake, from the package. It was heavenly. I know that it is not gourmet. But it is seriously yummy.
I’m holding out for blueberry cheese cake day.
Somebody is falling down on scooping up errant crumbs, juice and berries in the “empty” space. When I walk away from the cake plate/pie pan...that area is tongued-clean.
What time do the parades start?
I was a month early! We were in the Bay Area a month ago to celebrate our oldest grandson’s third birthday (and got to meet grandson #2, who was 5 weeks old at the time). The 3 year old asked to go to his favorite restaurant for his birthday dinner, Cheesecake Factory. We rarely go out to eat anymore, and when we do, it’s not often a chain restaurant, but we did have a lot of fun, and the cherry cheesecake we had was especially yummy!
I gained three pounds just looking at that picture!
The parades are great, especially when they start throwing cherry cheesecakes into the crowd.
Mom always made the Eagle Brand style of Cheesecake. Can’t get any more ‘Americana’ than that!

I prefer a New York Style (plain) from scratch. I haven’t made a cheesecake in probably 5 years. That. Ends. Today. :)
May 26th......................
Imagine how fat we would all be if we celebrated all of these days!
My wife hates cheesecake. I don’t know why. So, we never have any.........😥
LoL
How sad.
Maybe you might suggest to her that you’d like to have it sometime. Just once in a while. I bet they make decent frozen or refrigerated ones in the bakery section of the grocery that are single serve. She could pick one kind of dessert pie, and you could have cheesecake. Lots of stores are making smaller servings an option now.
I know that when I realize there’s something my husband appreciates that I don’t often cook or bake, I try to accommodate his wishes if we can manage it, and usually we can.
If she does the shopping most of the time, offer to go instead of her, and surprise her with some single portions, say, cheesecake for you, and her favorite dessert as the another (especially if it’s something you don’t like). She might get the hint. Or maybe even be direct but kind about it.
Lots of ways to get a nibble like that once in a while. ;)
