They were acquired by Nestle.

I can no longer get my whole food daily vitamins and there are other products which are scarce. No explanation I could find at the time, just reckless takeover effects.

The skinny on the ‘net is concern that they may compromise the formerly established quality of those supplements.

It’s worth researching if you continue to buy and ingest the brand’s products (I am no longer).

Fish oil capsules have poor support. Fish oil itself has good support in science. So I buy bottles of lemon-flavored cold liver oil. It included Vitamin D. Really no downside to taking it other than cost, which is my choice.

Vitamin K2 has pretty good support in science and no downside.

My blood pressure is a bit higher than I’d like. I use ENDUR-ACIN Niacin, 500mg. I KNOW, for ME, that taking it reduces my systolic blood pressure abut about 10-15 points after taking it for a month, and going off of it will raise it back after a month. A six month supply is under $30.

Don’t know if it works for everyone, but I’ve used it and stopped using it several times while measuring my blood pressure and my body’s response is very consistent. So for $5/month, I can get my systolic blood pressure to go from 140-145 down to 130.

I think the anti-supplement people are worried the drug companies won’t make as much off of their drugs. That, or losing CONTROL of people.

“Most of our prescription drugs are also made in China.”

The precursors are made there and most of the factories are downstream from the Three Gorges dam. It cracks me up when Freepers start honking about ‘nuke the Three Gorges dam’.

People complain about Big Pharma but there is Big Supplement too. I don’t trust either one. Unsubstantiated claims, dubious efficacy, hidden side effects, and I have no idea what’s in those capsules.

Wegovy (another name brand semaglutide) is FDA approved for weightloss.

Nobody is using name brand Ozempic for weightloss except really dumb rich people because insurance won’t pay for it.

They are either using Wegovy if their insurance covers it or they are getting generic semaglutide at a fraction of the cost.

Neither of these things should be causing an Ozempic shortage since they have different manufacturing and supply chains.

A better guess is that Ozempic has a manufacturing issue with their injection pens or getting raw materials or god forbid a contamination or quality control issue.

I have no trouble getting generic from my pcp. I started it about 4 months age for weight loss as a prediabetic so I won’t become a diabetic.

https://keepglowingmedicalspa.com/ozempic-weight-loss#:~:text=Health%20care%20professionals%20will%20prescribe,for%20further%20guidance%20and%20information.

Unfortunately they are actually prescribing Ozempic with patient approval using off label. Off-label drug use refers to the practice of prescribing a drug for a different purpose than what the FDA approved. So it is done and I can attest that seven pharmacies in the area, not to include two military pharmacies that can’t get it either. And they blame it on doctor’s prescribing it to people outside of the diabetic needs.

I definitely encourage people to reference ConsumerLab.com, and I’ve had a membership to it, for years.

Potential conflicts are things I am always concerned with. The biggest for my wife and I, for what we take, are alkaloids. They conflict with an incredible amount of items.

Most supplements are made in China.

Where do you think most pharmaceuticals are made? Not in the USA.

A lot of supplements and pharmaceuticals are made in the US of stuff sourced overseas - often China. Common supplements are usually available from non-Chinese sources if one looks around and it willing to pay more. It takes some research, though.

That’s good.

Opray hsa been in a weight loss/gain yoyo since the 80’s at which time she lost 67 pounds on a liquid diet. But she almost immediately gained it back when she went back to solid foods. She went to weight loss drugs to try to cheat her way down but take notice that using them still requires use of a dietary intelligence and exercise. There is no get rich quick scheme there. She also mentioned she seemed to go back to a general weight number consistent with her high ends which could lead to speculation that DNA might be involved. But that one is still up in the air.
